World’s second-largest Lord of the Rings props collection to go under the hammer
- Better have a lot of savings if you want to bid on this!

And for the BC fans among you - check this out tomorrow afternoon (or this evening, if you're in Europe). I'm sure there will be some Hobbit related questions:

Benedict Cumberbatch ‘ask me anything’ on Reddit on October 11

So Benedict's short film Little Favour will be released on 5 November... on iTunes. AAAAARGH!!!! I am not getting iTunes, not even for Benedict in a project that looks as different and interesting as this one! I hope that it will eventually be released somewhere else too, but until then I'll just have to obsessively rewatch the new full trailer, I guess... Again, beware of the gritty/bloody scenes:

An animation of Smaug in all his glory

OCTOBER 4, 2013 at 1:50 AM BY KELVARHIN -
Ringer Ryan sent us in the following gif made from the trailer, slowed down to show Smaug in all his fiery glory.
- Obviously this contains SPOILERS regarding Smaug's looks, (though the image is still pretty dark so you mostly get his shape, his eyes and briefly a few details of his head, but only hints of bodily details and colour), so don't watch if you want to be completely surprised when you go see the film! There is also a soundclip of Cumbersmaug's line from the trailer at the link, courtesy of "Our friends at The Hobbit Movies", but for those who want to avoid the Smaug gif, here's the link to the audio file - there are download and share buttons. Warning: The file autoplays as soon as you open the page.

A little addendum to the new trailer:

In case you haven’t seen the trailer yet, let these lovely gents introduce it to you!

The gents in question being Stephen Fry, Martin Freeman and Richard Armitage.

I also absolutely need to post this teaser trailer for a short film that Benedict Cumberbatch filmed during the break in between eps 1/2 and 3 of Sherlock (from what I can tell). It was actually crowdfunded - and I missed all of that because only every now and then will someone post on [livejournal.com profile] cumberbatchfans on LJ anymore since the whole fandom has moved to Tumblr, grrr. Still, the trailer looks amazing and I can not wait to see this short!!!

Synopsis: LITTLE FAVOUR follows the story of WALLACE (Benedict Cumberbatch) when he is contacted by a former colleague to help him out with a deal gone wrong.

A few more details behind the cut. )

Here it is - Little Favour (WARNING: gritty and somewhat bloody):

Just in case LJ is not accepting Youtube's embed code for some reason (as it didn't during my last preview), here's the link too: http://youtu.be/7mghu5ELe_c

More info is available at the Facebook Page of Sunny March, the production company (which is apparently partly owned by Benedict, whee), or on their twitter. The crowd funding campaign page is still available on indiegogo.com, if you're interested in some background info.

TV catchup

Finally started watching To the Ends of the Earth starring Benedict Cumberbatch, and while I knew Sam Neill and Tom HiddlestonJJ Feilds were in it, I was tickled to discover among the crew members of the ship one of the actors from The Last Enemy. I don't know his name (and am too lazy to look him up), but he played Yasim's friend, the skinny bloke who was in the apartment below the Ezards' at the start of it.

We're also slowly catching up on Battlestar Galactica on Netflix (well I am, hubbie has seen it already so it's a rewatch for him), and today was Mark Sheppard's first guest starring episode! Great character, can't wait to see more of him! I'm enjoying the series a lot.

Previously, we watched Burn Notice (omg please add the next season soon, after that cliffhanger!), Copper (for which they just added new episodes, so that'll be next after we wrap up BG), The Shield, and Hell on Wheels, among others. I can recommend all of them. Oh and from the category of sadly cancelled shows, Reaper - it's funny, and Ray Wise clearly relished playing the Devil. :D

Now we need to get Season 2 of Game of Thrones on Blu-ray!

‘Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Extended Edition’ release dates, content, pricing announced - November 5 for the US, possibly November 4 in the UK (TBC) - details at the link.

And in loosely related news, Newly discovered spider named after Dominic Monaghan - I'm sure he was absolutely thrilled to bits about that! :)
