I just have to share it here because it's very interesting and gives some nice insights into the man who is Sherlock - Benedict Cumberbatch. Today's Sunday Times has an interiew with him, and some members of the [livejournal.com profile] sherlockbbc community were nice enough to share scans and a transcript.

I love this (among many other bits): His updated Sherlock Holmes may have traded the pipe for nicotine patches, but with ratings for the BBC show passing 7m, the actor is lighting up and laughing about the filthy exchanges about him on Twitter. “It seems girls are really going for my Shergar look.” :D
The 'Shergar' reference is explained later on in the interview.

Oh and yesterday it occurred to me that with his facial features and pale eyes, Benedict would make a wonderful Seregil from Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner books - but I'm afraid he's too tall, going by Seregil's description from Alec's POV in the first book. Too bad - Benedict's experience with crossdressing/playing female roles would come in handy for the first story, "Luck in the Shadows"... ;)

Lynn has posted the first three chapters of her upcoming 5th book in the "Nightrunner" series, "The White Road", on her website! Oh, if only it was early June already, so I could read the rest...

White Road is off to Editorial Land

Oh and Lynne posted a while ago that the release date is September 27th (or thereabouts) - I believe it was October 27th at some point, but was moved recently. Something to look forward to after my return from NZ. ;)

I just finished "Shadows Return" - omgomgomgajksdfhöaeeeeeeehhsldjsdfomfg and now we have to wait A YEAR for the next book???!!! Lynn better be writing quickly!!!!

*tries not to hyperventilate*
ourdramaqueen: (nightrunner alec seregil sick)
Finished chapter 32. Unfortunately I have to go to bed now, because I have things to get done tomorrow. I just hope I can fall asleep! :D

ourdramaqueen: (nightrunner alec seregil sick)
Just taking a quick break from reading "Shadows Return" to go make myself some tea, and post the results to two "Which character are you?" memes I took. In the first one with Lotr characters I got Frodo, and in the second one with characters from several Fantasy/Sci-Fi franchises I got Gandalf:

Which Fantasy/SciFi Character Are You?

A wandering spirit caring for a multitude of just concerns, you are an instrumental power in many of the causes around you.

And so am I, very dangerous: more dangerous than anything you will ever meet, unless you are brought alive before the seat of the Dark Lord.

Finished chapter 19 of "Shadows Return" - and oh there are two characters I'd like to punish. Slowly. Painfully. A lot. For a long time. Lynn is very cruel to Alec and Seregil! Eeep! Don't expect to hear much from me for the next day or so, despite being on holiday! *goes off to make tea so she can get back to devouring SR*

Just in time for the weekend!!! *bounce bounce bounce*
ourdramaqueen: (nightrunner alec seregil sick)
No that's not an exploitation film or a whacky Hollywood comedy, but a documentary about two girls who joined the Black Tigers, the elite squad of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) a.k.a. Tamil Tigers. Rest behind cut because it's not very cheerful )

In more cheerful news, I got hailed on on the short way from the closest bus stop to home, and my thin silk skirt was thoroughly soaked and clung to my legs by the time I reached the door. I'm not complaining though - this is just another sign that IT'S SUMMER!!! \o/

Oh and I believe I forgot to mention that I'll have a two-week holiday from 7 July on. FINALLY!!! \o/ Speaking of which, the third and last volume of my "Serenity: Better Days" comic did arrive at the end of last week. Phew! Now I hope that my copy of "Shadow's Return" will get here soon... of course the slight delay in shipment was my own fault because I had forgotten to update my credit card's expiration date, although I was convinced I'd done it for all pre-ordered items... Duh!
ourdramaqueen: (nightrunner alec seregil sick)
You can read an excerpt from chapter one of "Shadow's Return" at randomhouse.com! Aaaaaaaaargh - still 14 days to go until release...

Speaking of - [livejournal.com profile] samena, did you see this entry by Lynn (which has its roots in the comments of this entry)? Street of Lights indeed! Still not quite how I imagine Seregil, but not bad. ;D

*prays to the Postal Gods to deliver her copy of SR as quickly as possible*

*while she's at it, prays for her copy of "Serenity: Better Days" #3 to finally arrive*

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] claudia603! *hugs* You're right, it is almost as green as New Zealand - just a bit of a different green :D Dang, with what the weather has been like here lately, I'd really like to hop on a plane and join you... Alas, I'm a good girl and will plod on.

Speaking of which, just an FYI that I'm not ignoring those commenting on my entries, nor those on my flist posting. I will try to catch up eventually but the whole transition from old job to new job thing (mostly the former) has me pretty exhausted. Only one more month! Of course then I'll have to get used to working full time again, which should be interesting, eep! Oh well, my NZ budget will thank me.

I really like Lynn Flewelling (author of the "Nightrunner" books, for those who don't remember from my previous entries about her/them). Recently she asked for fan questions she could use in a podcast to be recorded shortly afterwards. Since she didn't really get to use them, she's now answering a few questions each day in her LJ, [livejournal.com profile] otterdance. Her replies are very interesting! Was leafing through the first three books in the series the past couple of nights, and I am looking forward to the release of the fourth one, "Shadow's Return", something fierce. Is it June 24th yet???!!! *she asks for the umpteenth time*

Oh and I ordered the refurbished Creative Zen player I mentioned in last night's entry, plus a protective skin. Can't wait for my new toy to arrive! \o/

An hour of Linkin Park videos on MTV - that's Christmas! :D

Got some lovely gifts *huggles to [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel and [livejournal.com profile] kneonlight* and Christmas cards. And apparently I have one more gift on the way, heee! Back to work tomorrow for two days - boy, I woke up at 4pm today, so I certainly hope that I can go to sleep tonight at a somewhat decent time! Hopefully it will be quiet enough at the office that I can catch up with some stuff, and clean up my files and folders a bit.

The people at MTV.com are speculating about the possible cast for The Hobbit - obviously contains some spoilers.

Oh, and it seems unsure when the RotK Complete Recordings CD will be available again... *sigh* At least I found a download that will tide me over!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas time!

Oh, and for all those who have read the "Nightrunner" books - Lynn Flewelling posted a Holiday Snippet from the upcoming fourth volume in the series, "Shadow's Return" - is it July yet???!!! *whimper*

Argh I hate these mini migraine attacks - now of course I totally lost track of what I wanted to do. Oh well, it will come back to me eventually...
ourdramaqueen: (nightrunner alec seregil sick)
Lynn Flewelling just posted this on her LJ ([livejournal.com profile] otterdance), regarding the next book in her Nightrunner series:

While noodling around on Amazon just now, I discovered that SR is already available for preorder, with a release date of June 24, 2008.

Now to finish those edits!

Squeeeee!! *pre-orders*

Just saw the following headline on the TORn news feed:

The Uruk-hai Project

Hands up who else thought of/thought it had to do with [livejournal.com profile] ladysunrope's story first thing! :D

Also Tolkien/LotR related, this might be of interest to some of you:

Tolkien Sculpture Appeal Goes Global

Anyone else find it ironic that the Ent they want to create is made of metal?

For no reason at all, I just now remembered that last week or so I came across pictures of an actor who I thought might also work as Thero in the "Night Runner" series... however I have forgotten the name (hadn't heard of him nor seen him before, from what I could tell), what he was in (I believe the pictures were of a specific project), and where and how I came across the pictures in the first place. Oh well.
ourdramaqueen: (nightrunner alec seregil sick)
I guess this weekend will be pretty quiet, what with a big part of my flist off reading the last Harry Potter book, huh? :)

The following was linked by [livejournal.com profile] lilithlotr *sporfle*:

[Error: unknown template video]

I didn't know that HBO had made a film based on Dee Brown's book Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee! Details on their website. Did anyone see it? Boy, it's been a while since I read that book... clearly shown by the fact that I own it in German instead of the original English. :)

And last but not least, Lynn Flewelling posted another snippet from her upcoming (in a year omg) fourth Nightrunner book!!! \o/ I ♥ Thero!

Some updates for the casting suggestions... :)

...an academic book that would address [your] Seregil and Alec novels

omfg I will SO order that as soon as it's available on Amazon!!!
ourdramaqueen: (nightrunner alec seregil sick)
when the song lyrics

You had a boyfriend
Who looked like a girlfriend

make you think of Seregil in his Lady Gwethelyn disguise... :)

Yes I know that it continues with That I had in February of last year, and Seregil wasn't Alec's boyfriend at that point. So sue me. :P

All right - anyone who hasn't read/doesn't intend to read the Nightrunner books can safely scroll by this post. Unless you're incurably curious. ;)

So I had intended to make a post about possible actors to play the characters in these books. Well I ended up doing a bit more. May I present:

*giggle* One would think I had too much time on my hands, but hey, I still need practice with GoLive and particularly CSS, so this was a great little project for that! Obviously a lot of characters are still missing, but those can be added anytime.

So, any comments or suggestions? *eyes [livejournal.com profile] samena, [livejournal.com profile] forestrane and [livejournal.com profile] mtngoat* :D

Oh yes and GIP! Based on a drawing by Konstanze Faust.

Finished last night. It's so good to see the old Seregil back, finally!!! A few things that strike me as a bit odd about the end: ) Still, very minor quibbles, loved it overall. I'm very curious about ) Hopefully we'll learn more about that in Book 4? Which brings me to this post by author Lynn Flewelling on her LJ...

*distressed whimper*

Apparently her deadline to deliver the manuscript is July 31st 2007. I'd never thought it would that that long from then on to publish a book! Half a year, certainly - the editors will have a thing or three to say so that means some to and fro. But... A YEAR?!

I guess I should pray to Illior that it won't take longer... *wibble*

ETA: Cute tidbit about Seregil and his troubles with magic from the Flewelling Yahoogroup:

And someone at the group suggested this guy as Seregil, but I agree with those who say he's more like Thero - maybe not quite gaunt enough, but still. More pictures of him.

Which reminds me, must show you who [livejournal.com profile] samena came up with for Mardus, if she doesn't beat me to it. :)

omg someone shut me up please!

ETA2: Sorry, but you should be happy that I didn't make a new post! ;) But this had me ROTFL and I thought those of you who've read the books - and I think even those who haven't - might enjoy it too! Lynn's introduction:

I thought you might enjoy this brief excusion into the back brain of your Humble Author. Flashlight, tazer, and fantod repellent highly recommended.

So without further ado, here it is. The infamous lost last chapter of Traitor's Moon. (Yes, I really submitted it) The one they said was too hot to handle! Too piquant to publish!! Too dirty to distribute-!!! Well, you get the idea.

Taking a breather after just finishing chapter 40. Still almost-can't-set-it-down territory. :) Aww, Thero certainly has changed, bless. Very intrigued about what's going on with Nyal and Amali&Rayish, and worried about my two boys!

*goes off again to plough on with chapter 41*
