Just a quick notice to let you know I'm now also on Dreamwidth! Mostly as a backup, because of the recent news that all LJ servers now seem to be in Russia... but anyway, if you have a DW account feel free to friend me over there! It's http://ourdramaqueen.dreamwidth.org/ of course.

(Fingers crossed that crossposting to LJ works...)

Last night/in the wee hours it was still working, but now I can see my header etc., but not the actual entries on the flist... only my background. And LJ's status says everything is normal. WTF?!

From http://status.livejournal.org:

LiveJournal administrators are aware of current site access issues, and are working to resolve them as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience while we work to restore access to the service.

Their latest updates - so far only affecting S1 based layouts (i.e. the standard ones), but threatened to be coming for S2 layouts soon - remove the subject lines from comments, as well as the Parent and Thread links, and Preview of a post is no longer possible. The new version of the user picture browser is a comparably minor issue to me (not to others), but it's annoying - you now get the images in non-alphabetical order, instead of the alphabetical list of their names. More info here - so far there are 134 pages of mostly complaints and demands for them to roll back this release. There is also this poll which you may want to fill in. If you haven't noticed any changes on your personal LJ or on the communities you own/hang out at, you will notice them when you go to the first link at the [livejournal.com profile] lj_releases community, which is in a S1 layout. I seriously see no reason to remove the subject lines from comments - who would be bothered by them if they don't use them? However, many large communities like fan fic writing memes, RPGs etc. rely on them to make the community navigable at all - particularly communities that regularly reach the maximum number of comments in their entries! Why do LJ "fix" things that are not broken without consulting their users first, or at least giving them the option to opt out?! This is after all not a matter of taste, but of usability! And that one Russian developer who was working on this release got enough negative comments on his personal LJ that it should have raised some flags, frankly - but no, they go ahead and do it anyway! So if you have an opinion about this latest rollout, do go to the links above and voice it - in the hopes that they will at least listen if there is a large enough number of complaints!

I noticed I don't seem to be the only one who isn't getting comment notifications by e-mail, so I thought I'd give you a heads up:

http://www.livejournal.com/support says:
Email notifications currently delayed. Email and other notifications from LiveJournal are currently delayed as a large backlog of notifications is being cleared. It is not yet known how long it will take for the backlog to clear.

They seem to be at least a day behind still... *sigh*

I've disabled the option to share my posts/comments on Twitter/Facebook, using this solution by [livejournal.com profile] rabidsamfan. Like what seems to be the majority of my flist, I do not appreciate the possibility of my flocked content being linked. I'm sure none of you would dream to do that, but better safe(r) than sorry!

LiveJournal is currently in the process of moving its office, which will result in intermittent site slowness and difficulty accessing certain specific journals or page. These difficulties may continue throughout the weekend. We apologize for the inconvenience.

It's quite useful to have http://status.livejournal.org/ bookmarked for such cases. It's on a different server from www.livejournal.com so should be accessible even if the main site is not.

Well here's mine - 10th August 2003... wow! It took me a while to work up that first entry too, having opened my account here on 27th June 2003. So it will have its 6th birthday soon, awww. Here's to many more, even if I'm not as active as I used to be. :)

Well...

I seem to have a permanent account.

195 userpics, eeeeeeeh! :D

No, the mood isn't connected to this, but to the "Music". :)

Wow - they've finshed the server move quite a bit earlier than expected, and things run surprisingly smoothly, apart from some slowness. But that's not too bad and apparently should clear up in the next few hours.

And because almost everyone on my flist has done it, the results of my Colorgenics test at GoldinUniverse.com. I'm not so sure about the first paragraph, but the rest... wow.

Is it somehow possible to make a sticky post in a community, despite the "Date Out of Order" option not working in communities? Because if I postdate it and not use that option, any subsequent entries show up above the postdated entry.

FYI

I haven't been getting comment notifications since sometime (late) Saturday CET because they go to my ourdramaqueen mail, and apparently the server my website is on was having file system errors so they needed to move everything to another server. This of course takes time. This issue should be resolved soon-ish, but I'm not sure if I will still get the notifications or if they've been lost. So feel free to point out any comments (particularly outside of my own LJ; at least those I still see on my LJ "homepage") you feel I should see/reply to. Thanks! :)

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] claudia603! *hugs* You're right, it is almost as green as New Zealand - just a bit of a different green :D Dang, with what the weather has been like here lately, I'd really like to hop on a plane and join you... Alas, I'm a good girl and will plod on.

Speaking of which, just an FYI that I'm not ignoring those commenting on my entries, nor those on my flist posting. I will try to catch up eventually but the whole transition from old job to new job thing (mostly the former) has me pretty exhausted. Only one more month! Of course then I'll have to get used to working full time again, which should be interesting, eep! Oh well, my NZ budget will thank me.

I really like Lynn Flewelling (author of the "Nightrunner" books, for those who don't remember from my previous entries about her/them). Recently she asked for fan questions she could use in a podcast to be recorded shortly afterwards. Since she didn't really get to use them, she's now answering a few questions each day in her LJ, [livejournal.com profile] otterdance. Her replies are very interesting! Was leafing through the first three books in the series the past couple of nights, and I am looking forward to the release of the fourth one, "Shadow's Return", something fierce. Is it June 24th yet???!!! *she asks for the umpteenth time*

Oh and I ordered the refurbished Creative Zen player I mentioned in last night's entry, plus a protective skin. Can't wait for my new toy to arrive! \o/

This reminds me, I should run the LJ stats again... maybe later tonight, it's close to dinnertime now.
ourdramaqueen: (Default)
Is there any easy way to easily download the original size images from an LJ gallery? In other words, without having to first open each single one of the rather big number of images I'm interested in. It seems the DownThemAll extension in Firefox can't do it because of the way the links work.
ourdramaqueen: (lij wrist fetish)
I know I'm behind on replying to comments and will endeavour to catch up tomorrow - tonight I got home late and had dinner late and then had a bath and now it's almost bedtime already! O_O But I do want to get this done before I leave for Serenity: Infinity.

Oh rats. I better make sure my packing list is up to date... and get the train ticket to/from the airport!

Rats!

Of course I'll be at Serenity: Infinity during these screenings... in theory yeah, I could skip the opening ceremony on the 5th since the guests only come out briefly there anyway, but it would just be a huge hassle - and I need to look good Saturday and Sunday - *winks at [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel* - so I'll need as much sleep as I can get Friday night.

I really really hope I'll get an occasion to see Day Zero in the not too distant future, because from the trailer it just looks (and from the reviews, sounds) amazing!

Errr... Livejournal auto-post?! WTF is this idiocy, and what the hell is it supposed to be good for?!
ourdramaqueen: (lij hold on)
I'm not going anywhere, and I'm not opening any backup journals, for the time being. I have neither time nor inclination to keep up more than one journal/blog.

However, where's that LJ backup thingie again? Now that's something worth doing - I would hate to lose everything in here, for whatever reason.
