Fortsetzung der Filmmusik-Live-Aufführungen von Lord of The Rings:
«The Two Towers» im März 2009
mit dem Kinofilm auf Grossleinwand

Vorverkaufsbeginn voraussichtlich September 2008

Continuation of the film soundtrack live performances of Lord of the Rings:
«The Two Towers» in March 2009
with the film projected on cinema screen

Opening of presale probably September 2008

Again at the KKL in Lucerne, of course. I know it's almost a year yet, but still - wheeeeee!!! Everyone who would like to join me, take note please - I'll set a reminder in Outlook for myself so I won't forget to check in September, and I'll give a heads up as soon as I found that the presale has opened! :)

Speaking of the LotR soundtracks - as you all know, I tend to be forgetful, so I have created a feed for the blog of Doug Adams, author of the upcoming book "The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films":

If you add it to your friendslist, you'll see all Doug's updates among your other friends' posts - no having to remember to trek over to his blog to check for them yourself. :) Apparently information about the "release timeframe" (quoting Doug) should be coming soon. *bounce* Some info is in this recent TORn interview with Doug - which I completely missed, somehow!

Will go to Lucerne tomorrow for the world premiere of the "Fellowship of the Ring" concert, preceded by a talk with Howard Shore which is moderated by Doug Adams - yes, the man who did the liner notes and Annotated Score for the Complete Recordings DVDs, and will publish a book about the LotR soundtrack. Wheeeeeeeeee! I'm SO looking forward to this!!!

I'll be back sometime Sunday. Be good everyone, and have a great weekend! :D

Booked my ticket for the FotR-with-live-soundtrack performance on 23rd February! Both this performance and the one on the following day are almost totally sold out, and they added another one on 29th March but I don't know if Howard Shore will be present there too - probably not, I'd guess. Anyway, there were only tickets for the two best category seats left for the above date (and only few more for the Sunday), and since the difference was only CHF30 I went for one of the few best seats left, at CHF150. After all I'll only have to pay CHF85 for the hotel - a different one than when I went to the LotR Symphony at the same venue, but in the same area which means only some minutes' walk to and from the concert (and the train station).

Eeeeeeh, I'm really looking forward to this!!! Will have to take something that Howard Shore can sign, just in case. :)

Kingdom of Heaven is on TV, and thankfully in original language. Has anyone seen the Director's Cut DVD? I quite liked the cinema version and am curious to hear how the two cuts differ. The Amazon reviewer certainly seems to think the DC is a vast improvement over the cinematic version.

And speaking of concerts, Kill Hannah will be in Basel on 12th April supporting Aiden on their European tour - this will be the only Swiss concert... to go or not to go?

thinking that this was the first time in a long while that I didn't have any fixed plans for anytime during the coming year (RingCon is very likely, but not fixed yet).

But I guess I now know where I'll be on either 23rd or 24th February:

World Premiere

Howard Shore ’s Academy Award-Winning Score
Performed Live to the Epic Motion Picture
by Symphony Orchestra,Chorus and Soloists

21st Century Symphony Orchestra &Chorus
Ludwig Wicki,Leitung

Die Original-Filmmusik von Howard Shore live aufgeführt
zum ersten Teil der Filmtrilogie «The Lord of the Rings »

Samstag,23.Februar 2008,19.30 Uhr
Sonntag,24.Februar 2008,17.00 Uhr
KKL Luzern,Konzertsaal

Howard Shore will be present at both concerts, though it seems he won't be conducting for some reason. omgomgomg - can you imagine watching the film with live score?! Certainly they must be planning to do TTT and RotK at some point? This is the same orchestra that did the LotR Symphony last year, and a concert of Howard Shore's film music in general (with him conducting) earlier, so it will be good!

The only thing is that the cheapest tickets left are for CHF95, plus of course I'll need a hotel room again and to find something cheap in Lucerne isn't easy. But still - what an experience! Anyone want to join me? Lucerne is a lovely historic town. :D

An hour of Linkin Park videos on MTV - that's Christmas! :D

Got some lovely gifts *huggles to [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel and [livejournal.com profile] kneonlight* and Christmas cards. And apparently I have one more gift on the way, heee! Back to work tomorrow for two days - boy, I woke up at 4pm today, so I certainly hope that I can go to sleep tonight at a somewhat decent time! Hopefully it will be quiet enough at the office that I can catch up with some stuff, and clean up my files and folders a bit.

The people at MTV.com are speculating about the possible cast for The Hobbit - obviously contains some spoilers.

Oh, and it seems unsure when the RotK Complete Recordings CD will be available again... *sigh* At least I found a download that will tide me over!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas time!

Oh, and for all those who have read the "Nightrunner" books - Lynn Flewelling posted a Holiday Snippet from the upcoming fourth volume in the series, "Shadow's Return" - is it July yet???!!! *whimper*

Argh I hate these mini migraine attacks - now of course I totally lost track of what I wanted to do. Oh well, it will come back to me eventually...

I had pre-ordered my copy of "The Return of the King: The Complete Recordings" as soon as it was available. I got a shipment notification from Amazon.com on November 19th, with a delivery estimate (by expedited international shipping) of December 5th. I still didn't have it by yesterday so I inquired about it. This is the reply I just got:

Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com.

Please accept my sincere apology for any inconvenience that may have caused you due to this misunderstanding and please allow me to explain.

I'm sorry to hear about this situation. Usually, I'd be able to create a replacement order that would be shipped to you as soon as possible at no additional charge. Unfortunately, I can't do that in this case because the missing item is now unavailable from our supplier.

Instead, I've requested a refund of $69.97 to cover the cost of the item and associated shipping costs. We'll send you an e-mail to confirm the refund once it has been processed.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We appreciate your business and hope that you will give us a chance to serve you better.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I NEED THIS!!! I was counting on having it by Christmas so I could really indulge over the holidays!!!!! *SOB* I guess it's unavailable because of some problems there were with one version of the soundtrack (I only scanned one entry on my flist mentioning this), but I don't care why, I just care that I NEED IT AND I DON'T HAVE IT!!!! And the Amazon listing - ANY Amazon listing - now says they have no idea if and when it will be available again! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

*takes deep breath*

Would anyone out there who did get it be so kind to rip the CDs for me? PRETTY PLEASE?! I will pledge you my firstborn child! Or send chocolate or fondue or whatever you want! *pathetic puppy dog look*

I have the distinct feeling that this week will be not only stressful as in amount of work, but also as in it will cost me an indistinct amount of nerves. Ooh yes, and That Time of the Month (TM) is also looming near... perfect!

At least I can snuggle into my lovely soft possumdown (opossum fur and merino wool mixture) jumper from New Zealand. Speaking of which - go download/listen to the podcast of Doug Adams, who wrote the liner notes and the annotated score for the LotR Complete Recording CDs. Some interesting little tidbits and at the end he mentions the upcoming (in November 2008 probably *sob*) book about the LotR soundtrack. I wonder if the rarities he mentions will be included on CD?! Otherwise it wouldn't really make much sense talking about them in the book. Eeeh! *crosses fingers*

Still behind on comments etc., sorry. I'm just all over the place right now.

omg I can't even read the ROTK Annotated Score without tearing up...

Please please please let the CD arrive quickly...

Fabulous review of The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - Complete Recordings at tracksounds.com.

Excerpt from the author talking about the third disc:

Travelling through the tracks of this disc is a true roller coaster as we feel the despair of Denethor, then the triumphant charge of the Rohirrim, to the darkness of Frodo and Sam's travail through the plains of Gorgoroth. Once again the producers do not leave us alone and defenseless before the great hordes of Sauron, but instead end the disc with uncertain triumph in "For Frodo" By far, the exclusion of this piece was my greatest disappointment with the original soundtrack, but now we have that blessed, choral statement of the fellowship theme! I could die a happy man with that brief moment reverberating in my ears and soul...but of course the story does not end there.

GAH! I really hope that package will arrive quickly...
