Sadly I'm home again - have been for an hour (which is an hour late, grr) and unpacked the urgent stuff and had dinner and opened some birthday pressies. I'll try to post the full story of my fantabulous birthday weekend and reply to all the lovely birthday wishes I got asap - more likely tomorrow than tonight, as I really need a hot bath and I suspect I'll go straight to bed afterwards, what with me being back to work tomorrow. Until then! ♥

I'm in a real in-between state - I've barely unpacked from Vienna, and only started putting together the clothes for London, though at least I have my outfits for the two times I'm going to see The King and I. I hope the Tube strike's aftermath will be over by the time I arrive in town tomorrow afternoon - thank goodness they didn't include Friday! Got my train tickets booked for the trip to/from the airport here, and also for my lunch appointment on Saturday with [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel and F., a.k.a. the Queen of Evil. Can't wait! *bounce* :D

Also can't wait to see Daniel on stage!!! And pleasepleasepPLEASE let him come to the stage door!!! omg just thinking about the possibility of actually briefly meeting/talking to Daniel makes me all jalkjfalösdfjaösljd!!!

I started reading A Day in the Life, which at this point is still dealing with the families of Jake's parents, which - wow. I had no idea that they were *that* high in British high society, particularly on his mother's side. The opening was actually difficult to read, as it starts with a crucial and emotionally harrowing moment in the life of young Jake and his brother. I did read some tidbits from later in the book - definitely an interesting and at some times omg-this-can't-be-real read ahead! And the photos are interesting - Jake looks so much like his father. Yup, I know what travel lecture I'm taking.

But enough babbling - work to do... I'll TTY again at the latest next week!

Got back home from Vienna Saturday night at 10PM - quite a bit later than planned, due to a lightning storm over Zurich which caused our plane to arrive and consequently start late in Vienna, then we were in a holding pattern for a while near Zurich because the storm was still going on, and in the end had to go to Basle for a refuel stop before we could finally land in Zurich! The two of us who had to travel to Davos were not amused, I can tell you! Not surprisingly, I didn't sleep nowhere near as long or good as I would have needed to recover properly, and yesterday my head felt as if it was wrapped in cotton and achy, coming from my stiff and aching back/neck from all the standing at the booth and dozing in the airplane seat for so long. But the rest of the trip was good. Will try to post at least a few pictures before I leave for London and Daniel Dae Kim in "The King and I" on Friday. omg! Please everyone cross your fingers that he'll come to the stage door Friday and/or Saturday and that I actually manage to open my mouth? *whimper*

In other exciting news: Craig Parker will return to RingCon this year!!!! Squeeeeeeee!!! Also Thomas Robbins (Deagol) and Bruce Hopkins (Gamling). Now I hope that Mark Ferguson won't leave his "wife" to travel to Germany all alone... ;)

Maria Friedman and Daniel Dae Kim to Star in London The King and I

*takes deep breath*

OMG!!!!!!!! Can it be?! Will I at long last be able to get to see Daniel?! And - note the date that the show opens? That is my friggin' BIRTHDAY!!!! *whimper* Oooh - they're selling tickets already... omgomgomg... must make plans... once I calmed down a little. *whimper*

Thanks [livejournal.com profile] kerrsmith2306 for pointing this out! Be grateful you weren't able to hear my scream when I read it... ;)

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] jdsmylover for the heads up - I checked Myspace earlier today but this wasn't up yet.

From Daniel Dae Kim's Myspace:

Sometimes having some unexpected extra time can be a good thing - more time with your loved ones, catching up on movies, books or sometimes, just plain ole' sleeping. In my case, I've been able to use it for a labor of love. I just finished directing the video for a song by Harold Perrineau. It's called "Stay Strong." It's a kind of 'thank you card' to the troops in Iraq and their service to our country. Harold wrote the song over the summer and when he played it for me, I was so moved by it that I offered to direct the video. Not only do I think it's a great song, but I really respect that the fact that he agreed to donate the profits from the sale of the video to charity, specifically The Bob Woodruff Family Fund for Traumatic Brain Injury.
It was shot and edited here in Hawaii (except for the war footage, which was generously provided by ABC News) with some very talented young filmmakers at my side. Without their help, along with some incredibly bighearted members of the LOST crew, this video could not have been made. A big mahalo nui to all of you.
You can find it on my video page here, or on YouTube:

Regardless of how you feel about the war, I hope you'll agree that our troops deserve our support - especially during this special season.
Speaking of which, happy holidays to all of you. Thank you for helping make this year such a great one, even through its darkest moments.
May 2008 bring you many blessings, and I'll talk to you again in the new year.

The song really is good - Harold has a beautiful voice - and the video is very fitting and well directed, IMHO. Well done you two and everyone else involved! ♥

Please help spread the word about this - it's for a good cause!

Daniel posted an apology on his myspace, just like I knew he would:

I am deeply ashamed and embarrassed by my actions of Thursday morning. It saddens me to know that I jeopardized the welfare of the kind people of Hawaii, a community that I love and call my home.
It is my intention to cooperate fully with the police and I am grateful to them for their sensitivity throughout this matter.
To my friends, family, colleagues and fans, thank you for your kind words of support. To those I have disappointed I can only ask that you accept my heartfelt apologies. I am truly, truly sorry.

Oh shit...

The press certainly were there very quick! I don't subscribe to the "get in trouble with the police and they kill you off" theory, but still... *sigh*

I posted a report about Daniel Dae Kim's visit to the Pusan International Film Festival at [livejournal.com profile] danieldaekim.

Then here's a report about Karl being in talks for the role of Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy in J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek film. They mention him currently filming Black Water Transit, so I guess that could be the reason why he had to cancel RingCon.

And last but not least, Ian McKellen confirms he'd love to play Gandalf in The Hobbit, even if PJ weren't directing it:

McKellen keen to be Gandalf in 'Hobbit'

In the tradition of great courtroom dramas, comes this gripping legal eagle...Rookie lawyer Alec Brno (Anson Mount, In Her Shoes) has just been assigned the case of his career: exposing a billion-dollar oil scam led by a ruthless mafia boss (Jake Weber, Dawn of the Dead). When he reluctantly falls for the gangster's beautiful but drug-addicted wife (Erica Leerhsen, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre)--also his key witness--Alec soon realizes that all the legal savvy in the world can't protect him from the dangerous reality of mob violence. In a system where criminals often walk free, sometimes courtroom warriors must take the battle for justice into their own hands.

Jake as the baddie????????!!!!!!!!! omfg!!!!! *drools* I don't care how good or bad it is, I'll have to get this! After Serenity: Infinity and RingCon... :)

Speaking of Jake playing the baddie, I guess I should watch the pilot of Law and Order: Criminal Intent again... he was so hot in that! *fans self*

I just took a look at Daniel Dae Kim's official website and noticed two old updates which I had somehow previously missed *headdesk*, both concerning awards that he received:

Daniel Receives Award from the American Red Cross

DDK Honored with Visionary Award

It's probably very silly to feel as proud of him as I do, but - well, I do! :D

wtf LJ for not having a "proud" mood

Kim, Paymer ink with APA

July 30, 2007

Daniel Dae Kim and David Paymer have signed with APA for representation in all areas. Kim, one of the co-stars of ABC's "Lost," recently joined the cast of the A&E Network four-hour miniseries "The Andromeda Strain," based on the novel by Michael Crichton about a deadly bacteria. In it, he plays Tsi Chou, a microbiologist who once served as the premier biological weapons designer for the North Korean government and now is a U.S.-based bioterrorism consultant.

"Strain" — from exec producers Ridley and Tony Scott, David W. Zucker and Tom Thayer — also stars Benjamin Bratt, Rick Schroder, Eric McCormack, Christa Miller, Andre Braugher, Viola Davis and Ted Whittall. Kim's credits also include Fox Searchlight's upcoming untitled Onion movie as well as "Crash" and "Spider-Man 2." He additionally is repped by manager Steven Siebert of Lighthouse Entertainment and attorney Keith Klevan. Paymer is onscreen in Warner Bros. Pictures' "Ocean's Thirteen," opposite George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. His numerous film credits also include "Mr. Saturday Night," for which he received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. The multihyphenate also has directed episodes of ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" and "Grey's Anatomy" and the CW's "Gilmore Girls," among others. He continues to be repped by manager Susan Smith and APA's literary department. (Kimberly Nordyke)

Congratulations!!! And the Onion movie is "upcoming"? Good grief how long ago did he do that one already? Yay for it finally being released.

Can someone get me this, PLEEEEEEEEEEASE?????!!!!!! I swear he gets hotter every year... *drools*
ourdramaqueen: (firefly inara)
Yes, indeed - I'm still live (as those whose LJs I occasionally commented on know)! Boy, I think the only times in the last two years when I was silent for so long were during trips to other countries... *blush* Sorry for disappearing - I wasn't ignoring you (in general or in particular), just a combination of being busy, not feeling very communicative overall, and lacking the focus to do a proper post. I'll endeavour to catch up on comments etc. over the next couple of days.

Not much news really (at least none that I'd share publically) - so here are a few meanderings of my mind:

I'm basking in the incredibly wonderful summer weather right now. Renovations on the house I'm renting in are coming along nicely - and I really, really hope that the dark red currently on the window frames and wooden roof beams is the final colour, as it looks very cool! Will be glad when they're finished though, as I want to finally get my plants from Mum's and put them on the balcony!

So I hear Dom AND Daniel Dae Kim (among other Lost cast members) will be in the UK next week doing press?! So near and yet so far... Oh and of course Lij will be at LFCC - have a great time, those of you going! And sorry for those who wanted to see him at ELF - I hope you'll get another occasion, and that you'll have a good time with your friends anyway! *hugs and fingers crossed*

I recently saw the trailer for The Mistress of Spices, which I own as a book. Now it's been quite a while since I last read it, but I seem to remember that cut for possible spoilers ) I must say if they changed this, that doesn't really endear the movie to me... though it does look luscious otherwise. Not like it will make any difference, as it seems it won't come anywhere near here anyway, and I don't have any big city trips planned in the near future. Will see about getting the DVD after I heard/saw more.

Speaking of DVDs - another version of the LOTR trilogy, eh? Of course we all know that I won't be able to resist the 300 minutes of behind-the-scenes material by Costa Botes... the first one of which was shown at a NZ film festival a couple of years ago. I am thinking about cancelling my order for the 12" Aragorn by Sideshow though - to curb my spendings, but also a bit in protest against the lack of quality (aka lookalikeability - there, I coined a new word!) in their 12" and Premium Figures series.

Ah yes, spendings - I'll not only go to RingCon in November *crosses fingers, toes etc. for Elijah not to cancel*, but also to Serenity3 in September. Unfortunately [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel already has another con close to that date and has met all the Serenity3 guests before, and I don't really know any other Firefly fans, but a friend of hers very kindly agreed to show me the ropes - this is the first "big" con for me. *huggles them both* I'm very excited! This con will also start off a three-week holiday (which I'll dearly need by then - OMGCANTWAIT!!!), of which I'll spend two in the UK. It will probably end with a brief visit to Collectormania 10 together with [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel. :) Still working on the details, but between these events, my first ever visit to [livejournal.com profile] ismenin and a birthday visit to [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel and Queen of Evil, there isn't much time left. Am thinking about stopping a day in Glastonbury on the way to Issi though - it's been too long since my last visit to Avalon, and I'm sure even a brief visit will help me recharge my batteries!

I have such an urge to be creative currently - but have so many other things going on too. Ack. I may go back to (relative) silence again soon, just so I can find a little time at least to dive in. At least I've been generally feeling more energetic and rested this last week or so, than I did for a long while before that. See - this little thornbush cactus flower thrives on warm temperatures! :D

And last but not least, from flora to fauna: These news probably are as fascinating to Dom as they are to me! ;)

Right, work now - more play later. *huggles flist*

Phew! Spent all evening working on the layout of [livejournal.com profile] danieldaekim. Might still dabble with the colours of the boxes, but have to take a break from staring at code now! Good thing though that I found [livejournal.com profile] component_help - found some very helpful tutorials there. :)

Oh yes, and I was thinking how great it would be to have a DDK mood theme for the community... but oy, I'm not even halfway through with finding pics for my own mood theme, so that will have to wait!

Pictures of Joaquin! OK so the first bunch I saw were all of his back (argh!) but thank goodness for dearjoaquin.com, where they have a few good ones from the ceremony, the Governor's Ball and the Vanity Fair party. And didn't he just look smashing in all black?! I mean, come on:

Talk about Man in Black. *drools*

But I'd really like to know what he and Heath were talking about! :D )

Argh! Maybe two weeks ago, someone posted a series of hi-res caps of shirtless Jin from Lost, and I was sure I saved them - but now I can't find them anymore! And no mail to myself with the link and reminder to do it. I went looking in [livejournal.com profile] lost_tv until back in late January but nothing. I'm pretty sure it wasn't anyone on my flist but one of you guys pointed them out in their LJ. So if anyone remembers, please please please could you point me to them again?! I can't believe I did this! *sob*

ETA: Hmmm well I did find a few at the Lost_TV Forum, but I was sure that there were more hi-res ones... I think my brain is going completely! *sigh*

And on this DDK screen caps note: Gee guess whose screen cap they're using here? :) Of course now I have it on DVD so I could take much much better caps!

Well here it is, at long last... my List of Lust. Sorry it took me so long - besides the reason for yesterday's rant, for some men It was difficult to find halfway decent pictures, for others it was hard to choose only one! Then there was also the question, with a few, whether they'd go on the main list or under "honourable mentions". Also, I'm not very adequate with words when it comes to describing what I like about these men, so often it's more babbling about where I discovered them. Feel free to ignore the text completely and just enjoy the pictures! ;) I'm sure the list will change again soon anyway, so without further ado, I present to you the momentary status:
