Of Saoirse Ronan… and Itaril

January 20th, 2011 by Earl | Source: RTE.ie | Discuss | 16 Comments and 4 Reactions

Ever since a “casting call” for The Hobbit found its way on to the internet back in January 2010, fans have been wondering much concerning the role of the Elf-maiden (or alternately, Elf warrior-wench!) who’ll supposedly go by the name of Itaril and fall in love with with a young Elf-lord.

It wasn’t long before fans began speculating the casting for the role and, subsequently, Saoirse Ronan got linked to it. But much fun as the speculation was (and is), neither the rumoured role nor the rumoured casting choice have gone down well with many fans. And whether or not the rumours had a ring of truth to them was anyone’s guess.

Come January 2011 and the media has finally gotten to catching up with Saoirse Ronan and asking her directly concerning the possibility of her being cast in the upcoming films. [...]

$1 Million for a Cameo? Bloom Rumors (Monaghan Too)

January 11th, 2011 by xoanon 0 Comments and 1 Reaction

Orlando Bloomtimesofindia.indiatimes.com and other sources (possibly all from the same source) are reporting that Orlando Bloom has asked, and will receive $1 Million dollars for his 2 minute cameo in the Hobbit Films. While we cannot confirm or deny this bombastic rumor, it begs an interesting question, how much is a possible 2 minute cameo worth?

The same article also makes a throwaway note about Dominic Monaghan joining the cast, lazy reporting or actual scoop? You Decide. Take a look at the article in question here.

January 11th, 2011 by xoanon 0 Comments and 8 Reactions

With the hot and heavy casting news recently people are furiously trying to fill in un cast characters with likely candidates. Former Doctor Who star David Tennant is once again being mentioned as possibly playing Thranduil the Elvenking in the forthcoming Hobbit movie. [...]

That would make two ex-Doctors in The Hobbit, with David and Sylvester McCoy! :D

And last but not least, here's the official WB press release about Elijah's and Andy's casting.

With Dom Monaghan (in great shape) and Megan Fox in the roles of Eminem and his ex-wife Kim. Great song, great video portraying the tug-o-war between love and hate in an abusive relationship. Check out the HD version if you have a fast internet connection and a fast computer with enough memory. :)

FotR is on Swiss TV - thank goodness with original audio on the second channel - and Kristin Thompson has posted a nice little anecdote on her blog from the sound mixing of RotK, on occasion of Michael Semanick's Oscar nomination for "Achievement in Sound Mixing" not once, but twice: for WALL-E as well as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Fingers crossed! Previous entries you might find interesting: A new anthology on the LOTR film and Mark Ordesky no longer at New Line.

Also, in case you've missed all this, there's lots of recent entries over at [livejournal.com profile] dom_media about Dom's guest appearance in an upcoming (3D-)episode of Chuck (including links to various clips), and about Dom promoting I Sell the Dead at the Slamdance festival, plus more pictures of him and Elijah in Park City at [livejournal.com profile] elijah_finds. Also: Dom seems to be scheduled for an appearance on Craig Ferguson next Thursday, and he'll be going to Vancouver to do 10 more days of shooting for Wolverine - whee, more Dom! \o/

Monaghan, Rodriguez cast in 'Fortuna'
Grim future vision of collapsed economy, climate

By Gregg Goldstein

Oct 8, 2008, 12:00 AM ET

Just in time for the next depression, Dominic Monaghan and Freddy Rodriguez star in a horror thriller offering one potential solution to our economic problems.

Set in 2100, "Fortuna" envisions an Earth where a collapsed economy and climate crises have eliminated the middle class, leaving a few very wealthy and the teeming masses in severe poverty. To give hope and avoid revolt, the elite create Fortuna, a mysterious game where one in a thousand wins a big payday and joins the upper classes. But their hidden goal to "reduce poverty" by 30% over 50 years comes with a deadly price tag.

Never heard of that director, but then I am paying no attention whatsoever to the Swiss film scene. Wonder what's up with Pet? I haven't heard anything about it anymore. It better not fall through, because I really really really want to see Dom in a role like that!

The Good:
Full trailer for I Sell the Dead on Fangoria.com, featuring lots of Dom! \o/

The Bad:
Jonny (the guitarist) won't be with Kill Hannah on their European tour due to some "personal matters and outside obligations", according to their Myspace. And this might well be the only time that I'll get to see them, apart from their brief stint at Give It A Name last April in London. Still looking forward to the concert a lot, but... F**k!

The Sort-of-Ugly:
Off to bed with me - in the hopes that my cramped back muscles won't get worse over night. At least they didn't start bothering me until later in the evening. Did I mention we had a small work excursion and dinner today? *is too tired to check* Had a nice time but am very sleepy now - so I'll bid you a good night!

Monaghan Holds Photographic Exhibition
Posted by Top Ex Ed 2 hrs ago

Actor Dominic Monaghan is staging an exhibition of his photographs in Los Angeles next week.

Among Monaghan's favourite photos will be shots of his Lost co-stars Matthew Fox, Josh Holloway and Jorge Garcia and his The Lord Of The Rings co-stars Elijah Wood and Sir Ian McKellen.

The page they link at Topix.com can't be opened for some reason (even the start page), but Contactmusic have more:

[...cut since it's the same as above...]

The Happy Accidents exhibition will be held at Hamilton-Selway Fine Art in West Hollywood from 14 March until 27 April (08). Monaghan says, "Happy Accidents refers to those moments where you don't expect what is going to happen, but it ends up being something good."

And you can see some of his photographs at http://hamiltonselway.com/Monaghan1.html! :D I think this one is my favourite!

Damn I would love to go to that exhibition...

So, since according to HR Pet is "set to begin shooting in the next few months", I guess Dom will actually be doing X-Men Origins: Wolverine first. And in NZ, aww! I wonder if that's where he was leaving for when they snapped him at LAX two days ago. See this entry at [livejournal.com profile] dom_media.

I'm ridiculously happy for Dom! :D

Dominic Monaghan is Blackwing — EXCLUSIVE!
Thu, 21 February 2008

20th Century Fox has cast former Lost star Dominic Monaghan as Barnell Bohusk, aka Blackwing, in X-Men: Wolverine, sources reveal exclusively to JustJared.com.

According to Wiki, Barnell’s body changes into that of a humanoid-bird form, with a beaked face, bulbous eyes, wing-like arms that give him the ability to fly (albeit clumsily), talons on his hands and feet, and double-jointed knees. In mutant form, Blackwing also possesses heightened agility, and he may possess heightened senses and a lighter skeletal structure like the avian X-Man formerly known as the Angel (Ben Foster played this character in X3).

Monaghan, 31, be joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Taylor Kitsch (Gambit), Will.i.am (Kestrel), Danny Huston (William Stryker), and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox).

X-Men: Wolverine slashes its way into theaters on May 1, 2009.

There's nothing on Variety or Hollywood Reporter yet, but I seriously hope this is true!!! Finally a role in a big blockbuster...

Two interesting interviews:

1) John Barrowman in Scotland on Sunday

2) Ian McKellen in Factory Magazine - right at the end, he mentions he'd love to be in The Hobbit. Be sure to download the podcast, which has a little more than the print version.

Also, I was remiss in posting this link so far - TORn have a poll up in which you can choose who you'd like to direct The Hobbit - right now the three leads are:

Fran Walsh (38%, 1,250 Votes)
Guillermo del Toro (35%, 1,158 Votes)
Sam Raimi (22%, 731 Votes)

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] txvoodoo kindly provided a download of Dom's appearance on Craig Ferguson - you can find it here. omfg I couldn't believe that sketch at the beginning... ROTFLMAO!!! Is there any talk show appearance of Dom's that doesn't have any gay innuendo? *snort* But ooooh the highlight was definitely when he was handling these animals... particularly the snakes! "Anyone in the audience?" - if I had been there you'd SO have heard me scream, "ME! ME!" and could have watched me run down to the stage. :D GUH, Dom and snakes, an irresistible combination. I really do hope he'll get some animal/environmental show, that would be so great. Odd though that he didn't mention I Sell the Dead when Craig asked what he'd been doing! Plus: Screen caps courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] green_queen.

More info right here : http://www.dreadcentral.com/node/25423

Peace out!

I copy/pasted the Dread Central article below; check out the teaser poster at the link above.

Exclusive: I Sell the Dead Back in Production!

It’s been five months since Glenn McQuaid’s 18th Century period horror film I Sell the Dead has been in front of cameras, but over the weekend we learned that finally all is back in place to continue making what promises to be the most interesting of Larry Fessenden’s Scareflix film lineup to date.

So what took so long for the film to finally finish up? Seems co-star Ron Perlman had another film he was committed to making over in Budapest, something about a guy from hell, but now he’s back and ready to immerse himself into a very different sort of role.
