If you're interested in more pics from the recent charity performance of Ian McKellen, with the support of most of the main Hobbit cast, go here: McKellen and friends at the Opera House

For those wanting to join TORn for their Hobbit premiere tour: TORn’s own tour to New Zealand for “The Hobbit” premiere is now open for business, and also read this Quick update to the TORn Hobbit Premiere story

Primary filming for The Hobbit is nearly done?

Aaaand last but very much not least - lucky those who get to go to SD Comic Con! Obviously TORn will be there - The Comic con blitz from TORn has begun - but also some very familiar (or soon to be so) faces: ‘Hobbit’ lineup announced for Comic-Con includes Jackson, McKellen, Serkis, Armitage, Freeman, Boyens!!!
And if that's not enough reason to envy SDCC goers, this Hobbit-unrelated announcement will do it - certainly for fellow Browncoats: Entire Firefly Cast Will Reunite At Comic-Con For The Show’s 10-Year Anniversary. "The cast of FIREFLY will talk about the past, present and future of FIREFLY, 10 years after its debut. " Um, FUTURE?! I mean, there have been comics, but... could it be, after Joss' success with Avengers?! I don't dare hope...

Sean Maher has decided to come out!

I'm so, so, SO happy and excited that he finally felt ready to do it that I literally flailed and squeed when I saw the article. And even created a Twitter account, just so I could tell Sean so. (About the being happy&excited part, not the flailing. ;)) There's a newer article from a short while ago today, where Sean talks about the reactions he got so far. Hopefully things will stay so positive, overall, for him and his family.

I haven't gotten around to watch The Playboy Club pilot episode yet, but will definitely do so asap. Fingers crossed that the show will do well - it would be nice for Sean to be a regular in a series that isn't cancelled within its first season!

And now that I finally found them again on one of my external HDs, I need to get my hands on whatever plugin I seem to need to properly import the SeanMaher.info files from GoLive into Dreamweaver, so I can make some much needed updates to the Filmography, among other areas...

Fans Launch "Help Nathan Fillion Buy 'Firefly'" Movement

Last week there was a brief furor over the Internet when Nathan Fillion did an interview with Entertainment Weekly--prompted by The Science Channel acquiring the rights to air Firefly on cable again--in which he reminisced on playing Malcolm Reynolds. Further, the Castle star said, "If I got $300 million from the California Lottery, the first thing I would do is buy the rights to Firefly, make it my own, and distribute it on the Internet."

Now, some especially fervent Browncoats are taking Fillion at his word and amassing support in the Help Nathan Buy Firefly campaign. [...]

More info at the link. Oh, and of course Sean Maher is among those who'd come back if Nathan were to succeed! :D

Right. I should stop dawdling about and take a shower. Stuff to do...

So Dragon*Con is over. It was fun, though rather more busy than I like. I was only able to get into the Sean Maher&Summer Glau panel on Sunday, out of three Firefly panels. Did take some pics but they'll be mediocre, since I only had the little camera with me. (I'm still not sure where the bigger one is, come to think of it... need to dig around my stuff more, now that I'm finally mostly unpacked. We got back to NYC yesterday late afternoon, and surprisingly it's now almost more hot and humid than it was in Atlanta! Not that I'm complaining about that, mind. ;)

Still, had fun, saw tons of gorgeous costumes, and met some lovely, interesting people. Monday night, my friend H. and I went out for Brazilian barbecue dinner (at a place called Fire Brazil, near the con hotels - definitely recommended) with a couple he's friends with - and we ended up at a table next to Richard Hatch. :) Then we went back to the Marriot and joined some others at the hotel pool - I didn't bring my swimsuit unfortunately, but dipped my feet in the jacuzzi, which was wonderful. Oh yes, and I also bought a gorgeous, well-made green underbust corset in the dealers' room that afternoon, for only $99!

Still waiting for the digital versions of the photo op pics to go online at the photo studio's website. Will post my photo with Sean Maher as soon as I got it, as well as the scan of my autograph and some of the less bad pics that I took, once I've had a chance to go through them. :)

In the meantime, my Sherlock DVD arrived from the UK! \o/ Watched the commentaries already (and ran some errands in between - more of those to do tomorrow), and will watch the Making of and the unaired pilot later tonight and/or tomorrow.
ourdramaqueen: (sean maher)
Soooooooo today I got Summer Glau's autograph and a picture with her, and then I went to get Sean Maher's. Read more... )

And that was how I spent the majority of the day - well mostly, waiting, particularly for the Summer auto and for the photo to be printed! A loooooooooot of waiting (helped by listening to the audiobook of Casanova's biography, read by Benedict Cumberbatch *whimper*), but it was worth it! Too bad the Firefly panel was full so I couldn't get it. That's a definite downside of such big events! Hopefully I can at least get into tomorrow morning's Sean and Summer panel - I don't have anything else on before it at least so can go queue up early.

Right, now off to the Aquarium - an extra excursion for D*C participants. Will scan the photos when I have the chance!

PJ drops “Hobbit” DVD tidbits, talks LOTR 3D conversions, fan reactions to Theatrical BluRay release

April 20th, 2010 by Earl | Source: The Wall Street Journal | Discuss

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Peter Jackson, Executive Producer of the upcoming Hobbit films says of the films’ behind-the-scenes footage that “We’ve been filming DVD material for about a year. Guillermo has been doing location scouts and design work, with the DVD people following him around, so we’ve shot 20 or 30 hours of DVD material so far and we’re still a few months away from the first day of shooting.”

More at the link.

Last but definitely not least, Lifetime's The Dive From Clausen's Pier is finally coming to DVD!!!! *bounce bounce bounce* FINALLY more Sean Maher on DVD to drool over... You can pre-order it here if you're interested. :)

Too tired to post more details right now, but SeanMaher.info finally has a new outfit!!! \O/ Mostly thanks to the awesome graphics help of [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh - couldn't have made it before Sean's episode of The Mentalist (airing tomorrow night on CBS at 10pm ET/PT) otherwise! Now I just need to adapt the Gallery layout and some minor other things. Ooof! I'm sure I'll sleep well tonight...

Oh - did I mention we have added an exclusive interview with Sean to the site in celebration of the new layout (or the other way around)?! Eeeeeeeh!!! :D

Night night y'all!

Actor will be seen in 'Drop Dead Diva' pilot

Thesp Sean Maher ("Serenity") has signed with Innovative Artists. He'll next be seen in the pilot episode of the Lifetime series "Drop Dead Diva."

Sean Maher

Sean Maher has been cast in upcoming Lifetime series "Drop Dead Diva," produced by Craig Zadan, Neil Meron and Josh Berman. His credits include "Serenity" and "Firefly."

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! *does dance of joy* Hopefully there will be more news soon! Big thank you to Craig and Neil for coming through for Sean again! *fingers crossed this series will be good and will survive for a while*

Quick edit:

According to this article, Margaret Cho is part of the cast too and the series is "about a dead model/actress whose soul ends up in the body of a brilliant but rather frumpy lawyer. [...] Brooke Elliott stars in "Drop Dead Diva" as Jane, the attorney who becomes the new home for the soul of Deb, a self-absorbed party girl who gets a chance to redeem herself when her soul ends up in Jane's body."

And according to this casting call for extras, the pilot is being filmed in the next couple of weeks, apparently in the Atlanta area.

Thank goodness [livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh was vigilant - I haven't been checking Variety/HR for a couple of weeks. :D

From a Gawker Q&A with Joss Whedon:

Q. In my dreams I traverse great depths and voids of unnamed space and find myself in a netherworld where untold numbers of Buffy and Firefly props are just laying around and I can just take them back to my apartment and mount them in the sweetest little shrines. What Buffy/Firefly props have you held onto as personal mementos?

A. I have a life-sized Sean Maher made of human flesh that keeps screaming that it's the real Sean Maher and I should unchain it. Amazing technology!

Where can I order one?! Or is that the reason why we haven't heard any news about Sean, Joss?! ;)

Hmmm not so sure about this one... :)

Which Goddess lurks in your soul?

You are a true earth warrior! Demeter is the Greek Goddess of the fields, grain and harvest and inhabits those souls who long to be a part of the green. You have a special connection with plants and care deeply for the Earth. You tend to be motherly and protective of those that are in your care and are not above severe aggression when one of your charges is harmed or threatened.

And totally unrelated, but I just have to mention once again how utterly CUTE and SEXY and TALENTED Sean Maher is. So please someone, ANYONE give that man a job (preferrably in something I'll have a chance to see), for fuck's sake! And there better not be a SAG strike...

Finally caved and got the S1 DVD set of Ghost Whisperer because Sean Maher is guest starring in one episode. And boooooy does he look good in it! I mean I knew that because I have seen this episode before but watching it in high quality just brings it home even more. *drools* Some screen caps behind the cut. He's so cute and gorgeous and omgsexy - he really should be contractually obliged to only ever wear skin tight wardrobe no matter what project he does! 0% body fat indeed... *whimpermewldrool*

Heads up for British John Barrowman fans: He will be touring the UK with his upcoming album during April 2008! Tickets go on sale Friday 9th November, album release date is the coming Monday, 12th November. You can listen to extracts from some of the songs here. If you (like me) can't see the player on that page: It's under the picture of the album cover; right-click on that area and then choose "play" and it should work, as long as you have the Flash plugin. Also watch out for John on Strictly Come Dancing this Sunday 11th November, and on GMTV on the 12th. More info at his official site.

Good news of today: My copy of Starlog #341, which I'd got off eBay because it features an interview with Sean Maher, arrived today. One thing worth getting up for! \o/

ETA: On a related note, check out [livejournal.com profile] meoinya's reports of her three trips to Firefly/Serenity conventions within the last month:

Starfury's Serenity: Infinity
Creation's Firefly/Serenity Salute
Starfury's Serenity LA

The latter two contain some interesting information which came from Sean Maher and Nathan Fillion, respectively... and in the former case particularly rather confirms the opinion I have of Starfury owner Sean H., while the latter I have already heard about, only with a higher number of months mentioned. I doubt very, very much that I'll go to Serenity: Complete next April, even if I could schedule it in. Hey, I can hope they'll add Sean Maher to the guest list of FedCon - it's unlikely that I can go the whole weekend, but they do sell day tickets...

[livejournal.com profile] greenie_breizh has posted her photos from Creation's Serenity Salute convention last weekend in LA at her photo LJ, [livejournal.com profile] holdlifestill. Guests were Nathan Fillion, Sean Maher, Alan Tudyk, Summer Glau, Morena Baccarin and Yan Feldman, and the pictures came out great! Don't miss the links to her full Photobucket galleries at the end of each entry. :D

Creation Entertainment have a few Serenity promo pictures in their shop featuring Sean which I don't have yet - including the one of the Simon/Kaylee kiss at the end... *whimper* Guess I'll be putting in an order soon! :)

I hope someone will bring news from their Firefly & Serenity Salute this coming weekend, about a new project for Sean... *fingers crossed*

Both Adam Baldwin and Sean Maher have cancelled Serenity: Infinity! *sob* At least I got to see Sean last year, and I'm really hoping this means he's finally working again... but still! *sniff* Would have been so great to meet Adam for the first time, but alas...

Richard Brooks is the first replacement guest - that's not bad at all. And of course Morena is still there, and I'll get to see [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel and Mr. & Mrs. [livejournal.com profile] kneonlight and Mrs. and Mr. [livejournal.com profile] dawnangelus again and hopefully [livejournal.com profile] naughtyelf for the first time, and we'll no doubt have a lot of fun. Still... *sniff*
