If you are interested in RPGs or have friends who are, could you please spread the word about the Kickstarter (crowd sourcing) for [livejournal.com profile] caias' new game, Trigger Happy - the Role Playing Game of Action, Crime and a World Which Hates You! (Think The Shield, Transporter, Die Hard etc.) Backers can get a lot of cool stuff, relative to the size of their contribution.

Oh, and the editing on the promo video at the top of the page was done by Yours Truly. :)

Thanks a lot for helping spread the word!

Should be on our team afternoon excursion with snow shoes, but it's freezing cold and there's a little wind, which are bad conditions for me/my breathing apparatus - especially if I'd spend 3-4 hours on an exposed mountainside. So I stayed at the office (as did two of our graphic designers, for different reasons), but don't have much to do - hence, two memes:

The colour meme that everyone is doing again )

From the same creators, the Dewey Decimal System meme - and boy is this correct! )

Have a good day!

Probably wasn't such a good idea to sit in the sun while having lunch... particularly when I'm working on a big, boring, repetitive task that I need to finish until tomorrow.

*yaaaaawns*

I'm home, I'm knackered, and right now I don't even want to think about going to the birthday party of a work colleague tomorrow afternoon... although I'm sure once I'm there it will be fun. But now I think I'll take a bath, have some tea and a little food, and go curl up in bed with a hot water bottle.

This post is brought to you by coming home from lovely warm Romania to cool home, in association with PMS.
ourdramaqueen: (lij party in my pocket)
Just did my web checkin for tomorrow's flight home. In a way I'd really have liked to stay longer, we had a good time for sure! The course banquet was fun and the party afterwards too. I danced a LOT - and in fact this was the first time I truly enjoyed dancing with a partner! Also managed to visit "Dracula's" castle today with almost all of the organising team who are still here. Ah, but it will be good to have the weekend at home.

Well anyway, better go to bed - in theory I can sleep in tomorrow as our transfer bus to the airport leaves at 11AM, but you never know what my organism will do (like today, when it woke me up at 5:45 AM a.k.a. 1 1/2 hours before I had to get up - WTF?!).

TTY when I'm back!

Just thought while I'm sitting at our booth here all alone, I'd post a quick "Hello from Romania!" post. :) It's the second course day and already we have hardly any participants coming to the booth anymore, except to pick up some "Gummibears" we have in two big glass jars, LOL. (Whee, I just had a few come by with questions about books etc.) One of the three of us here for booth duty is feeling sick to her stomach today - in fact she did mention feeling queasy yesterday late afternoon already, but then it seemed to go away again - but it seems that even during coffee breaks it's enough for one of us to be here now.

A little bit about the town of Sinaia )

Course is on until Thursay noon-ish, then we'll pack up and Friday it's back to Switzerland - at least for me, the other two are staying two more days to explore the area a bit. We also have an open offer from "our" taxi driver for a round trip to "Dracula's" (a.k.a. Vlad Tepes') castle near Brasov/Transylvania and back for a rather good price - it was either 120 or 150 Euro that he quoted, can't remember clearly now, which is ridiculously cheap for a three-hour excusion, especially divided by three. We'll have to discuss it tonight at the banquet - if our sick colleague can make it *crosses fingers* - or tomorrow.

Hope you're all having a good week, talk to you sometime soon!
ourdramaqueen: (firefly river pout)
but I REALLY don't want to, and I REALLY don't want to get up at 4:45 AM tomorrow! *pouts* On the one hand I am looking forward to going to Romania for a week (for work again), but on the other hand I just want to sleep in tomorrow and have a quiet weekend at home! I'm seriously considering going to bed now and get up an hour early tomorrow and finish packing then - I do have everything ready, really, just need to chuck out some of the clothes I've piled up and put everything in the suitcase.

Hmm yes, probably the best approach. Not sure if I'll have internet connection there, but I'll be back next Friday night - and then I'll have 3 1/2 weeks of - well not quite peace and quiet, because I'll be packing and preparing for NZ omgomgomg! :D

Right, off with me now - have a great weekend and week everyone!

Got back home from Vienna Saturday night at 10PM - quite a bit later than planned, due to a lightning storm over Zurich which caused our plane to arrive and consequently start late in Vienna, then we were in a holding pattern for a while near Zurich because the storm was still going on, and in the end had to go to Basle for a refuel stop before we could finally land in Zurich! The two of us who had to travel to Davos were not amused, I can tell you! Not surprisingly, I didn't sleep nowhere near as long or good as I would have needed to recover properly, and yesterday my head felt as if it was wrapped in cotton and achy, coming from my stiff and aching back/neck from all the standing at the booth and dozing in the airplane seat for so long. But the rest of the trip was good. Will try to post at least a few pictures before I leave for London and Daniel Dae Kim in "The King and I" on Friday. omg! Please everyone cross your fingers that he'll come to the stage door Friday and/or Saturday and that I actually manage to open my mouth? *whimper*

In other exciting news: Craig Parker will return to RingCon this year!!!! Squeeeeeeee!!! Also Thomas Robbins (Deagol) and Bruce Hopkins (Gamling). Now I hope that Mark Ferguson won't leave his "wife" to travel to Germany all alone... ;)

Just quickly before I have to head to the congress centre:

Variety report

Kristin Thompson's commentary

I've not seen a lot of the Vienna yet, but it seems a city well worth spending time here with lots to see and do. Some more sightseeing this afternoon, after a half day's standing at our booth, so there will be pics eventually. Have a good day!
ourdramaqueen: (lij te anau)
First of all I'd like to share this brilliant article about introverts with you which [livejournal.com profile] shirasade just pointed out: Caring for Your Introvert So many true points in there! And there are even introverts who don't get the need for space and being alone that their fellow introverts have...

Also, I'll be leaving for Vienna tomorrow noon where I'll be among a small group of coworkers staffing the booth we have at the edge of a big conference Wednesday to Friday. Should be interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing a bit of Vienna - never been there before. I should be able to check LJ and e-mail occasionally, but am not sure how often. Hope you'll all have a good week, and I'll TTY Saturday night or Sunday at the latest! :)

A Poet's Guide to Britain on BBC Four - presenter Owen Sheers is rather cute, isn't he? I guess I can continue packing in 20 minutes... ;)

when you are really, really tired and only have routine/repetitive work to do?

*resists temptation to just give in and rest her eyelids*

Why isn't it even noon yet, when I want it to be time to go home?! *pouts* Things are still very quiet at work, and I've spent most of my time since returning from my holiday break wanting to beat our effing webpublisher software to a pulp. Grrr. I'd rather be reading or watching DVDs or sleeping...

Over the holidays I got into a really weird sleeping-waking rhythm: I was up until the wee hours (usually sometime between 2AM and 5AM), and sleeping until sometime around/after noon. The night to Sunday I basically couldn't sleep at all; Monday morning I woke up with a headache and a queasy stomach so I went back to bed and only went to work when finding that I felt better as I woke up around noon; and yesterday I woke up an hour before the alarm. In short, my inner clock is still all out of whack. Why is it so easy to slip out of your everyday rhythm, but so difficult to get back into it?!

Mustn't forget: company new year's dinner (instead of Christmas dinner which would be difficult to do for scheduling reasons) tomorrow night. I hope I'll get back early enough to catch part 2 of the New Zealand documentary on German TV, of which I saw part 1 last night. Nothing spectacular but some interesting tidbits, and hey it's NZ - always worth watching just for the landscape imagery! :)

Weather: Sunny (as of today at least; the past days were cloudy) and cold. Which transfers to the office - I hate it when I have to sit at the computer with cold hands! *shivers*

Err... I'm sure there was something else, but I can't remember it right now. Oh well, I may add it later.
ourdramaqueen: (wood witch)
Day 3 of the 8 days meme actually has several things that made me happy - and it's not even evening yet:

My boss's reaction when I told him I needed 12th June off to go to London for The King and I starring a favourite actor of mine: 1) "Hey, cool!" and 2) (while making a note of it in his calendar:) "Hey, I'm not here then anyway." - me: "Oh good, so it doesn't matter to you if I'm not here anyway, right?" *giggle* Having a geek as your boss is great!

Being able to leave work early because while I have work, it's all boring little stuff that's not urgent at all, and I do have some spare hours in excess of the ones that I'll use up for the "Christmas break" while our offices are closed.

Oh yes, and last but not least, my Linkin Park "Road to Revolution - Live at Milton Keynes" CD/DVD arriving. Am about halfway through and it's f***ing awesome!!!

Oh joy...

I can't access the main file repository on our craptastic webpublisher software, and of course the guy in IT who could help is at the congress center along with almost all the rest of his team, and I can't reach him on his mobile nor, for some reason, leave a message. I hope his colleague listens to his messages and can tell him to call me back asap. At least now that the annual courses are running, things are considerably slower than they were in the weeks leading up to them. But that doesn't mean I don't have better things to do than sit around and shuffle random work files/emails, surf around, read my private email and twiddle my thumbs until I leave for the congress center late this afternoon... And no, I don't really have stuff I can do outside the webpublisher. *sigh*

Tomorrow we'll see the first prototype of the new webpublisher software, which is being tailor-made for us, and should be finished by March 09. It can't be spring soon enough...

to the Ticino was hot (somewhere around 30°C) and therefore sweaty, but nonetheless fun. The landscape is so pretty, and so are the villages/towns there! *happy sigh* I'm now much refreshed after a brief bath and having washed my hair, but still knackered, so will go to bed. I'm afraid I hardly glanced at my flist and e-mail. Will have to start catching up on replying to comments too - but that's for another day. :)

PS: mpreg was brought up during lunch conversation (not the word, but the concept), and no, no fan fic writers involved! *snigger* Do remind me to post a transcript of that part of the convo, which started out completely innocently. :D

Night night, sleep tight!

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] claudia603! *hugs* You're right, it is almost as green as New Zealand - just a bit of a different green :D Dang, with what the weather has been like here lately, I'd really like to hop on a plane and join you... Alas, I'm a good girl and will plod on.

Speaking of which, just an FYI that I'm not ignoring those commenting on my entries, nor those on my flist posting. I will try to catch up eventually but the whole transition from old job to new job thing (mostly the former) has me pretty exhausted. Only one more month! Of course then I'll have to get used to working full time again, which should be interesting, eep! Oh well, my NZ budget will thank me.

I really like Lynn Flewelling (author of the "Nightrunner" books, for those who don't remember from my previous entries about her/them). Recently she asked for fan questions she could use in a podcast to be recorded shortly afterwards. Since she didn't really get to use them, she's now answering a few questions each day in her LJ, [livejournal.com profile] otterdance. Her replies are very interesting! Was leafing through the first three books in the series the past couple of nights, and I am looking forward to the release of the fourth one, "Shadow's Return", something fierce. Is it June 24th yet???!!! *she asks for the umpteenth time*

Oh and I ordered the refurbished Creative Zen player I mentioned in last night's entry, plus a protective skin. Can't wait for my new toy to arrive! \o/

Had the most convoluted and weirdest dream - you'd think it was a full moon or something! The part I most clearly remember was that [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel and I and a male we knew somehow got the opportunity to visit John Barrowman at his home. cut to spare you rambling dream recollection ) The last thing I remember is that it somehow came back to John again, before the alarm went off at 9:55. o_O

Now I'm totally shattered, and unfortunately I have to go to work (new job). Thank goodness only in the afternoon. I wouldn't normally be there on Mondays at all yet, but my predecessor is here this week for a more in-depth introduction to my duties. I'll compensate that extra half day when I have to be at my (old job) intern's oral examination in June.

Right. Tea, get dressed, post office, shop, lunch, work. Ugh.

An hour of Linkin Park videos on MTV - that's Christmas! :D

Got some lovely gifts *huggles to [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel and [livejournal.com profile] kneonlight* and Christmas cards. And apparently I have one more gift on the way, heee! Back to work tomorrow for two days - boy, I woke up at 4pm today, so I certainly hope that I can go to sleep tonight at a somewhat decent time! Hopefully it will be quiet enough at the office that I can catch up with some stuff, and clean up my files and folders a bit.

The people at MTV.com are speculating about the possible cast for The Hobbit - obviously contains some spoilers.

Oh, and it seems unsure when the RotK Complete Recordings CD will be available again... *sigh* At least I found a download that will tide me over!

Hope you're all having a wonderful Christmas time!

Oh, and for all those who have read the "Nightrunner" books - Lynn Flewelling posted a Holiday Snippet from the upcoming fourth volume in the series, "Shadow's Return" - is it July yet???!!! *whimper*

Argh I hate these mini migraine attacks - now of course I totally lost track of what I wanted to do. Oh well, it will come back to me eventually...
