Hee, Michael Semanick worked on The Village! (Sound mixing - also LOTR)

M. Night Shyamalan wrote the role of Lucious Hunt especially for Joaquin! (Ahaha and Joaquin told him not to mention that, but he did anyway.) ♥

Totally cute story told by Bryce, about when the actors were in boot camp in a "living history museum" in Pennsylvania, to prepare for life in the 19th century: One day Joaquin, who she hadn't even spoken to so far, came up to her. He'd been wookdworking all day, and he said, "Um, Bryce, I... I made this for you..." and gave her a cane he'd made himself, and carved with "Ivy" - her character's name. And that was her introduction to Joaquin. She said he made her job very easy to fall in love with him. :)

Oh.My.God. They really should not be telling me stories like this...

*ahem* And there's a video on Youtube of Nora Jones singing "Home of the Blues" at the "Evening for Johnny Cash" event from last autumn, and in the background you can see Joaquin play the guitar - they only really show him late in the song, unfortunately, but you can see him sing along. :) Some screen caps are here.

I have The Village on dvd, and love the story. All the acting in that movie is good, but Joaquin's was so touching. I love Joaquin because he's such a talented actor and he's gorgeous as well :) He's got such an endearing way about him. At the same time he looks a little dangerous, which is why he made such a great roman emperor in Gladiator.

I just watched "Signs" on the tv a few days ago, and there was Joaquin! I had no idea he was in that movie. Gotta get the dvd!

Very much agree with everything you said about Joaq! I like that he has an intensity about him, but also something very gentle.

Yes, he's in Signs too - but I much prefer The Village, of these two. My only complaint about it is that he basically disappears in the middle of the story!

Have you seen Joaquin in Walk the Line? He's FANTASTIC! I also love him in 8mm (eyeliner!!!), and Quills. And I still have many of his films to catch up on.

Heee, nice to see more people on my flist come out of the Joaq-admiring closet. ;)

I haven't seen him in Walk the Line. I've only seen him in Gladiator, The Village and Signs. I'm very intersted in seeing the other stuff though. I guess this means I'm off to Blockbuster to see if they have copies to rent. The thing I loved about him in Gladiator is that he had this slightly unhinged look about him.....

Oh, "unhinged" describes Commodus very well indeed - and not just his look... ;)

You really should get Walk the Line at the very least, I'm sure you'll love it!

Have you seen Return to Paradise? Just ordered it. It's the one where he's rotting away in an Asian prison and just days away from being executed???? [livejournal.com profile] claudia603 is going to die when I tell her, she's got such a jail kink :-)

Joaquin rules! And, just for you, my love, I shall put him in my new Inca fic as a minor king, complete with long hair, beaded skirt, bare chest, cold dingle-dangles and an imperious glare. Howzat? Giggle. His name is Quispe-Tupac, Auqui (Prince) of the Small Kingdom Above The Hill. And he is hawt, Sexeh, brooding, and he wants Lij (and he can't have him, cos he's Dom's. (Dom Diego Cristobal Sancho Ruy Jimenez de Mora y Aragon) Yeah. After Tom comes this! :D

Sure am. It'll be a DomLijah series but I do have such a soft spot for several other lads, I try to include them where I can. And Lickel Joaquin is one of these guys. I think he'll make a lovely Inca Prince. :D
