I just read it - and had almost a nervous breakdown while posting my comment because IE suddenly acted up completely - and I desperately needed to get my reaction out! But in the end I was able to... *takes calming breath*
But how will I survive until next Sunday???!!! You're SO cruel!!! *distressed whimper*
Is it a good series? Should I be reading it as well? Could you give me a bit of an outline? It's really been ages since I followed a fic series on LJ. *cough*Another Hunger*cough* There are several of them being posted these days.
A wee bit of explanation. I've always wanted to try this and it will either work or not. Basically it is RPS mixed with the Two Towers scenario. Yep. I know. Purists abandon ship here. Sometimes you have to go with the flow.
So I messed about with Tolkien canon, messed about with locations, certainly messed about with Dom and Elijah and boy, do they go through all sorts of stuff. Not a great deal of heavy angst, I promise but there is plot, action, violence, sex and er...humour. That buzzing sound you hear is Tolkien spinning in his grave. I relied on the film version of canon so share the blame between me and a certain Kiwi director. :)
This is almost finished on my pc so no waiting. Once a week on a Sunday there will be Uruk-Hai.
Hmm difficult to give more of an outline without spoiling things too much. Let's say that someone or something is not amused by what Dom and Elijah get up to on the Cirith Ungol set, and sets out to teach them a lesson... see RPS mixed with Two Towers. :) And I can tell you it's utterly brilliant, though I have to warn you that chapters 6 and 7 are horrible cliffhangers... Of course you can read right on after chapter 6, but 7 is the one LSR posted tonight, so you might want to wait until next week before you start reading, unless you want to spend the whole week totally on edge like me, LOL!
It sounds really interesting! Like I said, it's been a while since I read any slash series, or any LotR RPS, for that matter. I've found that these days I like to read longer series all at once, after they've finished, so maybe I should wait a bit. Does LSR have idea how long this one is going to be?
For the last two years I've mostly been reading H/D, as I'm pretty sure you know, and since last summer I've also been reading REAL books a lot. Yep, that was quite a switch. ;) Right now I'm reading 'The Time Traveler's Wife,' by Audrey Niffenegger, and I'm totally loving it!
Hmm I'm sure she mentioned it to me... I think it was around 15-20 chapters? Would have to ask her to be sure though.
I used to read REAL books, but not so much since I got involved in LotR fandom, LOL! I heard about 'The Time Traveler's Wife' but havent read it. I have a few non-fiction books that I'm going through right now.
I haven't had time to explore much yet, but that Vaako/Riddick story that was posted today was quite a good start! ;) Must comment on it...
Time Traveler's Wife is really intriguing. You shouldn't try to understand how the time traveling works, and how the different crossing timelines correspond with each other. At the beginning of each chapter the author gives us the date and how old the characters are at that time, and you should just go with that. It's much more about the people, and their relationship, and how they deal with things, than about the time traveling itself. It's not an adventure novel. It's really about these peope and how they deal with their complicated circumstances. At times it's very romantic, and very humorous as well. I highly recommend it.
I hear they want to make a movie based on the book. I surely hope they'll get some GOOD actors for the two lead characters!!
