Taking a break from essay writing... and I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] not_alone!

Explain Your Live Journal User Name and its Meaning meme. When you're done, tag as many people as there are letters in your name.

Now I believe I've done this one before, but probably some of you have missed it, so...

That's pretty easy. My 'sisters' [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel and the Queen of Evil started calling me Drama Queen since I have such a thing for angst and drama. And when I later contemplated having my own personal website, but didn't want to use anything related to my real name, Drama Queen seemed a natural choice. Since dramaqueen.com, .org etc. was already occupied, I went for ourdramaqueen.com. And once I decided to open a LJ, I just thought it would make sense to use the same screen name. Voilà. :)

OK, and now I have to tag... *counts* 13 people?! OK, let's see... I'm curious about the following (among others):

[livejournal.com profile] anatketani
[livejournal.com profile] banakil
[livejournal.com profile] baranduin (whenever your keyboard is functioning properly again)
[livejournal.com profile] digitallux
[livejournal.com profile] elanorgardner
[livejournal.com profile] garfeimao
[livejournal.com profile] ink_gypsy
[livejournal.com profile] karadin
[livejournal.com profile] lips_and_rouge
[livejournal.com profile] ms_erupt
[livejournal.com profile] shirasade
[livejournal.com profile] trianne

Mine is very boring.
I started writing fanfic 4 years ago and thought Trianne would be a nice penname (Tri Anne for Trish and Anne=Trianne). I had no idea at the time that it is also a popular name for American showdogs... yeah, I'm a bitch, lol ;)

It is?! ROTFL!!! I find this very funny rather than very boring! :D
shirasade: my reading fairy tattoo + my username (traumtänzer)

Well, way back when we first got internet at home (in 95 or so), I decided I needed an anonymous email. I wrecked my brain and came up with 'Sheherazade', because of my love for stories and telling them. That was already taken, however, so I looked around my bookshelf and my eyes fell on a book called 'Schirasades Nächte' - and because apparently no one else has ever thought of spelling it that way, I've been shirasade ever since. :)

Oh I love this! Thanks for sharing. :D

Many thanks for that explanation of your name. I don't often bother with memes but I thought this was a really good one - some names are quite obvious but its interesting to know the reason behind the more mysterious ones:)

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes it is!

[identity profile] baranduin.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I'd wondered about your LJ name, it's *such* a good one :-)

Mine is very simple. I knew I wanted some sort of Tolkien-ish name and I wanted it to be Shire-related but perhaps not completely hobbity. So Baranduin popped into my head about five seconds later, and I said, "that's it, I'm done." Brandywine would have been too Shire-connected for me, Baranduin had enough of a wider view. Though perhaps Brandywine would have been better, people do love to leave out the 'd', LOL!

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It is? Why thank you. *blush*

What, sometimes people write it "Baranuin"?! Doesn't make sense to me at all, LOL. Erm, sorry to be obtuse, but isn't Baranduin=Brandywine? Just because you say it had enough of a wider view compared to Brandywine.

[identity profile] baranduin.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Meh, I wrote that wrong. People tend to misspell it Baraduin. Argh.

Yes, Baranduin=Brandywine. I found Brandywine to be too hobbity and constrained to the Shire, the Elvish version suited me better and it reminds me that the Baranduin doesn't just flow by the Shire ... I believe it starts from somewhere up by Lake Evendim and flows to the sea. Argh, wish I could picture the map in my head.

OK, plus I find Brandywine to sound twee :-) Too Renaissance Faire and all that. *am a snob*

[identity profile] banakil.livejournal.com 2006-05-22 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
The short answer is that "banakil" is the Westron word for "halfling".

The long answer is that when I joined LJ, it was for LOTR fandom. I wanted to be a hobbit but there were already so many names with "hobbit" in them and I wanted to be slightly more original. So I flipped to the appendix of LOTR dealing with languages and came up with banakil. Yay! for obscure literary references.

Oh - I didn't know that! Obviously...

I love that. Yay! for obscure literary references indeed - and Yay! for Tolkien providing plenty of them! :D

*cough* I do? *innocent smile*

;)

Let's see. When I first found the online Lord of the Rings fandom on Yahoo, I wanted a hobbity name that belonged to someone who knew and loved the hobbit protagonists and the story. I selected "elanorelle" as my Yahoo user name and "Elanor Gardner" as my full name and my LJ name because I loved the exchange between Elanor and her father in HOME Vol. 9 - Sauron Defeated -- the way he called her "Elanorelle" and the way she yearned to hear more and more of the tale and more about Frodo and how she understood that Frodo was her father's "treasure". And besides, I have this Red Book that has been passed down through generations of my family....

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2006-05-26 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww yes, that's perfect! Lovely story, thank you! :D

And besides, I have this Red Book that has been passed down through generations of my family....

Awwww now if that isn't proof that you were meant to be Elanorelle... :D

Yes, I'm very late with this one, but this way probably only you will see it, which is fine by me. ;)

I'm a firm believer in the 'names are power' thing, and there are several reasons, actually, that I chose Willow. It is the name of one of our horses; also, and perhaps more importantly, the tree itself has an interesting folkloric/mystical tradition of representing inspiration, growth, and skill of eloquence. And then I realised 'Willow' by itself was probably overused as a handle, so I added the archaic spelling of wood. I am admittedly somewhat archaic, and my preferred and proper habitat is either the ocean, an ancient forest.

So there you go. Actually, this was fun to play. Thanks!

Belated thank-you for playing - that was interesting! :D

And your icon... *happy sigh*
