(no subject)

This scan is from a fairly recent Karl article/interview in New Zealand "Pulp" magazine, and the reason why it caught my eye in particular is the t-shirt:

An AIM t-shirt!!! ♥ I just can't help but wonder if he got it from Russell Means, who he worked with on Pathfinder. Russell, of course, is one of the most prominent members of AIM, and has since the early 90s apeared in several films. For those interested, check out his Wikipedia entry. I'd love to ask Karl about working with Russell! *crosses fingers that he'll come to RingCon*

ETA: For those who are interested, the rest of the article/interview

The last thing you made with your hands

*is having very naughty thoughts*

Great picture.

LOL - they said MADE, not DID! ;)

Yes, it is - they have more. I should upload the whole article, really... it's really good.

they said MADE, not DID!

but to my spanish mind it's the same! :P

LOL I thought so! It's different in German too - "machen" and "tun", though for Swiss and maybe even in colloquial German the two are somewhat interchangeable.

"Who's the last person who, in earnestness, told you to get a real job? Myself."

*giggle*

I liked the karaoke one too.

That was fun! Thanks.

Fingers crossed!

You're welcome! This is only one page of something like five - I might upload the full thing. It's very interesting.

Thank you - that would be SO fantastic!

I'd seen a link on the comm, but I hadn't read the questionnaire yet. I got the impression he didn't really like the questions, or maybe he didn't like the person who asked them? With the last questionnaire you linked to he was much more open and cheerful than with this one. But he speaks German! Ohh, wouldn't we love to hear that! ;) And the pics are yummy. Thanks!! :D

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yes - I hadn't known that his father is German, and that certainly explains the way his name is pronounced! I'd certainly not mind to hear that! ;)

[identity profile] samena.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
His full name is Karl-Heinz Urban. Yep. :) I've never thought of 'Urban' as a German name, and he certainly doesn't pronounce it in a German-like way himself. There's an interview with Peter Jackson in the extras of the FotR DVD where he talks about Karl and pronounces his last name a bit peculiarly; with the stress on the second syllable, and the 'a' as in the word 'man.' But Karl himself always pronounces it the English way, as in 'urban legend.'

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 12:09 pm (UTC)(link)
He does? Hmm guess I never heard himself pronounce his name... and right now I can't remember how David Twohy pronounced it on the CoR Director's Cut commentary... have to check! The way PJ pronounces it to me sounds like sort of an anglicized German version - the stress in German is on the second syllable.

A little while ago I watched this clip on youtube, which had Karl and Bernard Hill at the TTT premiere, and Karl introduced himself there. I tried to find it, but alas. I did find this classic clip, which is always fun to watch. And I found this one, which I had not seen before, honestly, and it made me go: awwww.

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Doesn't ring a bell for me now, the Karl & Bernard clip, but it's possible that I did see it once upon a time and forgot. Ah yes - haven't seen the classic one in a while, hee hee. The second one - you do have the extended DVDs, don't you? It's in the documentaries there!

[identity profile] samena.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It was one of those clips with different cast-members on the red carpet. Karl and Bernard were being very goofy.

Yeah, I do have the extendeds, but I must confess I still haven't watched all of the extras yet. Or maybe I watched that particular bit and forgot again. My memory is really sieve-like, at times. In fact, please remind me periodically that I have somewhere important to be on the 28th. ;p

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2007-04-13 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I really couldn't say if I have seen it. There's been so many clips! *g*

You haven't watched...?! GIRL WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU???!! ;D My memory is sieve-like too, but stuff like this I usually remember *cough*especially when I've seen it lots of times*cough*. :) And you would NOT forget THAT!!! :D By the way - what are our plans for Sunday, and who all are we meeting up with? Eeeeh only two weeeks now!!! *bounce*

Yummy. I wish he'd let his hair grow a bit longer, though. I like him with a shaggy look. But he's so fine.

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)
omg yes, shaggy Karl... *drools* Did you see him in Ghost Ship? If not, definitely catch it when you can - it has VERY shaggy Karl! :D

[identity profile] mews1945.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's on DirectTV once in a while. I'll catch it.

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
He is a very hunky man, but I like him best as Eomer, all long hair and leather, Cor!!! :D xxx

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2007-04-12 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yes - I love him in long hair! *drools* He also has long hair in Ghost Ship, though in his natural brown and his general appearance in that film is very shaggy and unwashed but omgsosexy! *whimper*
