Nightrunner - this will be a loooong year...
Finished last night. It's so good to see the old Seregil back, finally!!! A few things that strike me as a bit odd about the end: No mention of the goodbye from Beka at all. And no reaction to the news that old Runcer is dead. I mean, he worked for Seregil for so long and kept so many secrets... Still, very minor quibbles, loved it overall. I'm very curious about that prophecy regarding Alec! And I have an inkling why the dragon bit Thero where it did... *giggle* Hopefully we'll learn more about that in Book 4? Which brings me to this post by author Lynn Flewelling on her LJ...
YOU MEAN WE HAVE TO WAIT MORE THAN A YEAR FOR BOOK 4???!!!
*distressed whimper*
Apparently her deadline to deliver the manuscript is July 31st 2007. I'd never thought it would that that long from then on to publish a book! Half a year, certainly - the editors will have a thing or three to say so that means some to and fro. But... A YEAR?!
I guess I should pray to Illior that it won't take longer... *wibble*
ETA: Cute tidbit about Seregil and his troubles with magic from the Flewelling Yahoogroup:
Didn't the Goddess (i.e. Lynn) once say that Seregil's

Hiya Andrea! Old timer indeed, too. ;-)
Yep, you recall rightly. It's the magical equivalent of being dyslexic, or color blind. He's just
that way. Magically challenged?
Lynn
N'awww! :)
And someone at the group suggested this guy as Seregil, but I agree with those who say he's more like Thero - maybe not quite gaunt enough, but still. More pictures of him.
Which reminds me, must show you who
samena came up with for Mardus, if she doesn't beat me to it. :)
omg someone shut me up please!
ETA2: Sorry, but you should be happy that I didn't make a new post! ;) But this had me ROTFL and I thought those of you who've read the books - and I think even those who haven't - might enjoy it too! Lynn's introduction:
I thought you might enjoy this brief excusion into the back brain of your Humble Author. Flashlight, tazer, and fantod repellent highly recommended.
So without further ado, here it is. The infamous lost last chapter of Traitor's Moon. (Yes, I really submitted it) The one they said was too hot to handle! Too piquant to publish!! Too dirty to distribute-!!! Well, you get the idea.

Heh! I've been reading a series since 1990. I thought it was a triology - turned out to be a 12 book set. The last few books have been TWO YEARS apart! Now, we're waiting for the last book and the author is seriously ill.
I should never EVER pick up a book because the cover looks interesting. :)

I hope Lynn will continue to post monthly teasers from book 4 at least. Okay it doesn't really make the waiting easier, but it's better than nothing at all! ;)

I bet it's the same inkling I have.
Thanks for the link to the "final" chapter. I haven't had much time to keep reading back through the yahoo group.
As for the July 08 date. That doesn't make sense to me at all. If the last HP book could be put together and released in 6 months, why would this book take a year. GIVE ME THE NEXT NR BOOK NOW!
Well, off to read the Tamir Triad next. Which starts out with an old wizard talking about his apprentice "little Nysander"

I only browsed a little and looked for interesting looking post titles, but haven't gone far back.
ICAM!!!!
Awww, little Nysander! I hope he's in it a bit! I will probably read my Blood books first, since I've already got them and there's no Blood Ties right now *shakes fist at Lifetime TV*, but am definitely going to get the Tamir Triad.

In what way are wizards not whole? Well, Nysander said the price they pay for their magic is that they are barren... :)

I wonder if this means that the change will come with Thero, or with future generations? And if it's Thero, I wonder who the lucky lady might be...

There are some interesting suggestions for Seregil here. I like the third one.
And here is our perfect Mardus; Billy Wirth:
*swoon*

Check out some of the art here and on the other pages. Tobin and Ki are just... you will LOVE them! I was right about NR, wasn't I? ;P
Here's some Alec & Seregil art that totally looks like Draco & Harry to me. *runs away* ;p

It's here!!!
This is the artist who made the Lucifer drawings I showed you a little while ago. I can't link directly, but if you click on Lynn Flewelling, the Thero one I meant is the second one. The other one's not there, unfortunately. Not all of the drawings I've seen before are there, I think. Too bad.
Oh, please indulge me and click on the Harry Potter link. The first one, of Harry and Snape is just divine. No Draco, unfortunately, but there's Lucius. ;) The Gryffindor/Slytherin ones are great as well.

Goodness, that Harry and Snape drawing is amazing!

I was looking around the gallery yesterday - some of it's really well done! I love Tata's Seregil. LOL you're hopeless!!! I think I'm making an icon of Faust's other drawing - the one where Alec is holding sick Seregil. :)

Okay, I really have to ask: What the hell does FTW mean?! Is it WTF backwards or what?
no subject
But it definitely looks like WTF backwards. ;)

Yes, I saw those and was like, "Ooooooh!" I was able to find more pictures of Damien Sargue last night - I think he could work! Maybe his lips are a bit fuller than Lynn describes for Seregil, but not too badly.
By the way, what do you think of Lauren Ambrose (http://www.invisionplus.net/forums/index.php?mforum=sexyredheads&showtopic=332&st=0&mforum=sexyredheads) for Beka?
Of all the girls, Beka alone had taken after her father. Freckles peppered her fair skin, and an unkempt mare's tail of coppery red hair tumbled over her shoulder as she leaned forward to clasp hands with Alec. She had rather too much of her father's features to be beautiful, but her sharp blue eyes and ready smile would never let her be called homely either.
You know, I think I'll have to make a post just about possible Nightrunner cast... *giggle*

Lauren Ambrose looks like a very good Beka! And yes, you'll definitely have to do a Nightrunner cast post! I was thinking about it as well. :)

And yes, Wes would make a GREAT Lady Gwethelyn. :D
