ourdramaqueen: (countdown to middle earth)
Technically, since 30something minutes ago it's only 49 days to go for me, but since I'm 9 hours ahead of [livejournal.com profile] foxykc and at least 1 hour ahead of most of you, I thought this still counts as 50... ;)

"Gentlemen! We do not stop till nightfall."

"What about breakfast?"

"We already had one."

"We had one, yes. What about second breakfast?"

"Don't think he knows about second breakfast, Pip."

"What about elevensies? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper? He knows about them, doesn't he?"

"I wouldn't count on it."

:)

I'm not sure where this scene was shot and unfortunately have no time to go look it up, so I'd be very grateful for hints so I can add that information! But I remember PJ mentioning on the FOTR commentary that they started shooting without snow, then it started to snow halfway through and they were then told to evacuate the area, and could only get back several days later, and of course had to shoot everything again because now the ground was covered in snow which wouldn't have fit with previous footage. I'm assuming this picture is from the original day of shooting. It's still one of my favourites:

A lovely overview of Elijah's career so far at the News Tribune

If I should ever meet George Huang, I'll have to make sure to thank him not only for helping Elijah get the role of Frodo, but also for suggesting him for Kevin:

“Sin City,” he said, came his way after he happened to have dinner one evening with Rodriguez, a friend since he starred in the director’s 1998 aliens-among-us horror thriller “The Faculty.” When Rodriguez said his next movie was going to be “Sin City,” Wood, a big fan of the graphic novel series on which the picture was based, was intrigued. When a mutual friend, filmmaker George Huang, who was also at the dinner, suggested Wood would be perfect for cannibal Kevin, Rodriguez was intrigued.

Two months later, he called Wood in for a tryout. “I put some glasses on, sat in front of the camera and stared,” he said. Rodriguez sent the tape of Wood’s silent, staring visage to Frank Miller, the novels’ author and Rodriguez’s co-director. Miller liked the spooky stare, and Wood was in.

“So that particular role wasn’t at all a preconceived thing for me. I wasn’t an effort to get away from Frodo or be part of something dark. It was just purely out of my love for the material.”
