In early October, I came across a Butcher/Hughie fic for The Boys on AO3 that was inspired by a Kinktober list, and after looking over the prompts, I spontaneously decided to fill some of them. If you're interested in reading them, you can find them collected in my Kinktober 2021 series on AO3. So far I've written some Frodo/Éomer (LotR), some Butcher/Hughie and Butcher/Becca (The Boys), as well as John Kennex/Dorian (Almost Human). I filled the prompts as inspiration came to me and have a few more in the works, so I may or may not fill the gaps at some point. If you have an account, you can subscribe to the series, or just check aforementioned link occasionally for updates. I am also planning various unrelated Frodo/Éomer fics, and hopefully I'll remember to mention here when they're online, but that may take a good while yet.
I added another short story to my Frodo/Éomer "Closer" series on AO3, called "Dark Whispers". It is dark, so heed the tags and notes, and proceed with caution. I hope the tags are sufficient - I struggled with them for weeks, or this story would have been up much earlier. If you read it, let me know what you think!

Also, Ladysunrope had some very good suggestions for this chapter, the implementation of which took me a while to get right. (I'll just say that Éomer holds a lot of rage inside, and sometimes it threatens to take over.)

Two requests:
1) Does anyone happen to have a copy of Mews1945's "Of a Hobbit and a King"? Her LJ is deleted, the archive site where it was also saved (West of the Moon) is gone, and the Internet Archive backup of the latter only has the title page for the fic, not the chapters themselves. 😢
2) There's a fic where Dom and Elijah get transported from the LotR film set to actual Middle Earth due to disturbing a Maori artifact. Dom ends up transformed into an Orc or Uruk-hai, I believe, and both (separately) end up at Edoras. Ring any bells? I can't for the life of me remember what it is called or who wrote it, and I don't seem to have it in my bookmarks or LJ Memories.

If you don't have the The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition (yet), but would like to see Benedict Cumberbatch's audition tape for Smaug, check out the video in this Moviepilot article. I was SO happy to find that they included it on the EE, and - well I'm obviously a teensy bit biased *cough*, but he's utterly brilliant!
Gah, a month and a day until I get to see The Battle of the Five Armies (can only do the Saturday after opening, due to hubbie's current weekday schedule)! Can't wait and yet don't want it to end, if you know what I mean...

Aug. 5th, 2014 10:31 amThe first thing I thought when I saw the link to an article announcing Elijah Wood joining the cast of a Vin Diesel movie? "I need to go look for my link to that RPS fic of "Elijah/Crewman Gorgeous" (the latter of which is based on Vin Diesel in appearance)!
See? Hopeless. :D
But the movie sounds potentially interesting, and with Vin and Elijah in it, it's definitely a must-see for me. Doubt it will be at the cinema, though by the time it's out we might be able to get out sans daughter a bit more regularly. We just got to see Guardians of the Galaxy, which is the first time since The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug that we made it to the cinema!
Ugh, need to post a proper update soon... and pictures, they're way overdue!

WTF is up with Sherlock fan fic lately?! The vast majority of the fics I've come across recently with a really promising premise (like Moriarty abducting Sherlock and then sending John videos of torturing him in various ways - obviously not new, but one I just recently came across) by authors I hadn't read before turn out to be badly written: bad characterization, bad grammar, using similarly sounding words the wrong way (i.e. taught instead of taut etc.), endless and unnecessary internal waffling from all parties inserted in a dialogue scene (enabled by changes of POV every few paragraphs)... *shudders, pulls at own hair* Makes me wish I could shred digital fic like paper! (Sadly I don't have an icon of Sherlock shooting the wall, or one of his face when he deduces the CIA men grabbing Mrs. Hudson, which would both fit marvelously...)
Thank goodness some of the established authors are still active and maintaining the quality, and there is the occasional good fic by new authors too, but it's so tedious - and from my experience, unusual/a recent trend in this fandom - having to sift through all that tripe to get to the few gems. :/
