There's a video on Youtube of GDT talking to ITN about the Bilbo rumours - love his reply *giggle* - and Kristin Thompson has announced she'll participate in a panel on The Hobbit films with the TORn people at the San Diego ComicCon. I'm sure that will be an interesting one. Also, some of you might be interested in her latest post, "making films tomorrow in New Zealand", about the impact that the LotR films had on the film industry in NZ, a subject she touched on in "The Frodo Franchise" already. Even for those who aren't interested in such meta discussions, there's a little something - Kristin mentions, among many others, two films featuring LotR veterans which have been shooting in the Land of the Long White Cloud recently:

Gavin Hood, director of X-Men Origins: Wolverine shot on the South Island for two and a half weeks, and a second unit spent six weeks there. Given that the first three X-Men movies were made in Canada, the production was looking for new scenery. The production was based in Sydney, where Hugh Jackman was finishing up starring in Baz Luhrman’s historical epic Australia. Another fantasy, Underworld 3: Rise of the Lycans, was in the Auckland area for 11 weeks in early 2008.

I don't think I'd heard of Wolverine shooting in NZ, only in Australia - I hope Dom had some scenes back "home". Underworld 3 of course features Craig Parker as one of the Lycans (werewolves); very nice that they were shooting practially on his doorstep. :D

Heeee!

[livejournal.com profile] lilithlotr - I was just leafing through a Swiss catalogue I'd borrowed from my sister, which has mostly rock related merchandise, and among their CD reviews I found Kill Hannah's "Until there's nothing left of us"! Their conclusion (in rough translation from German):

"Mat Devine's nasal singing style will drive true rockers dead, the sugar sweet melodies are the utter horror of metalheads, and the high hit density of the album fairly screams for an audience of millions which will mostly consist of 13 to 19 year old girls. Despite all prejudices, though I have to say that the songs are produced perfectly, played first class, and the melodies have an enormous long time effect."

Wheee! :D They are also selling the CD; too bad they don't have any KH merch (yet).

Oh yeah, and Whitesnake have recorded a new album, after an 11-year break?!
