"I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your fic, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes office supplies."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal.

In return, ask me anything you'd like to know about me and I'll give you an answer."

I was born and raised in San Francisco, as was my father and HIS father so I belong in California and the rest of you can GET OUT. Went to a private girls' school, got thrown out for dealing drugs, went to UC Berkeley, graduated Phi Beta Kapa with a degree in Slavic Languages. I trained horses and officers for the Oakland Police Department, rode and trained dressage horses, read LoTR when I was 15 and man tas that a life altering experience. My brother and his family live in New Jersey, my father died when I was 17 and trust me, none of us were sorry to see HIM go, and my mother is in an assisted living center. I have a very low tolerance for willfull stupidity. I am doing things now at my age -- and trust me, you'll never know what that is -- that I was afraid to do when I was younger. Yes I'm vain. I see a personal trainer, I do botox and restylin and when I have enough $$, we'll go for cosmetic surgery. I know I can do anything I want to do, but I do have an inner voice that argues with that and that's my constant daily struggle. That and being tolerant of fools.

My love affair with Dom Monaghan has lasted longer than ANY other "romance" with a rock band, actor, you name it.

I procrastinate, I'm always late for stuff, there are bizillion undone things mainly because of heretofore poor time management skills that I am working on.

Wow, KC's life in a nutshell! Man that last paragraph sounds frighteningly familiar!

So, no question for me? :)

Do you see yourself living in Switzerland for the rest of your life and why?

From: [identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com
Definitely no. Especially not where I live now, cause while I've been born and grown up here, I don't like the cold and winters are far too long! I've always felt drawn to England - so I intend to move there at some point in the next couple of years, once I've been able to save up.

LOL mine isn't that impressive either!

LOL All hail FoxyKC!

OK, I will cross post what I put in FoxyKC's LJ: I am a single mom, painter, chocolate-loving foodie. But that is probably obvious. Something you may not know. Hmmmmm. I really like to smell the out-gassing of certain offset printing inks.

And I will add: my childhood nickname (from my mom) was 'monkeybutt'.

Question, we are all forgetting our question!

Where would you like to be, career/life-wise in 5 years?

Date: 2005-09-08 07:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com
Now that's a very good question! I hope I'll be in England, and... hmm doing something which allows me to be more creative than my current work. I'm not good at making big detailed plans, but yeah, that's the gist of it...

I can see now that the challenge of this meme will be to come up with something different for each journal on my flist.

The book that hooked me on science fiction was A Wrinkle In Time when I was around seven or eight years old. I only read hard science fiction though - I really can't stand fantasy.

I almost died when I was eight years old from an allergic reaction to penicillin. That was also the year I had my tonsils out, had a cyst removed from my lung, and our dog, Penny, died.

Both of my parents are retired and live in Las Vegas along with their satellite tv, swimming pool, sauna, and jacuzzi. *squishes them*

Wow, that sounds fab - your parents living in LA! Hey I was also sick a lot during my childhood - allergic asthma that wasn't treated properly by our idiot pediatrician and therefore I now have a not fully functional right lung.

Nothing you want to know about me? :)

Hmmmmmm... a question. Okay, when you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Is the reality anywhere close and is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Or, if you prefer to keep it light, if you could have any super-power, what would it be and why?

Date: 2005-09-09 07:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com
I would have loved to be something like an actress or dancer or singer or writer. Now I'm a secretary... which is not nearly as creative as I'd like, but I'm working on that. Slowly but surely.

Super-power... oh that is such a difficult question, because most of them are double-edged swords... but telepathy and/or telekinesis would come in handy sometimes! And I've always had this fascination with foresight.

I think I'll just take what I put in Mother2012's and add to it:

I was born and raised in New York City, and hated it. Once I moved to California at 23, I only went back once in my first 20 years here, and that was for my Grandmother's funeral.

I've since been back many times in the past 9 years because of business, and, I have to admit, I still don't like Manhattan.

I do not have a college degree, but most people I work with assume I do. (I don't lie about it, I just don't shout out the truth.)

Question - what is the one thing that you have done that has made the greatest impact on your life.

Date: 2005-09-08 08:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com
I liked NYC the one time I was there, very briefly. Would have to go back for longer though to really get a good feel for it. :)

Oh dear, one thing? Erm... that's difficult, there's not really one big thing... well, maybe getting the internet. I've always only had very few friends in RL and never was big on socializing (I'm rather quiet and shy in RL) so this having a large group of (more or less close) friends is new for me. And most importantly, through American Gothic fandom I got to know two women who have become like sisters to me! :D

Ask away then - what would you like to know about me?

I would like to know what you think is your biggest talent , and whether you can play a musical instrument, please.

Date: 2005-09-09 07:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com
Biggest talent? Oh boy... my creativity? Though I am not really excelling (did I spell that correctly?) in anything, it's more spread out across several kinds. Which can be frustrating as I sometimes feel I am mediocre at everything, LOL.

Used to play the recorder, then progressed to flute for a short time, but stopped after my second pneumonia. Not so much because of my related problems as because I was too lazy to go to lessons anymore. :) One instrument I'd love to be able to play is the harp, but as far as I know there are no lessons available anywhere here, and yeah, there's always that problem with discipline... :)

hmmm.

When I was still not born yet, my heart stopped and my parents thought they had lost me... It stopped for something like a minute...
As an unborn child I caused my mother the most amount of problems (compared with my four other siblings).
When I was 1 and 2 my parents had to train me how to eat because I didn't know when I was hungry. The same problems have continued since that time.
I could string together complete sentences and talk to adults from a VERY early age. I think I was able to communicate with adults by the time I was about 2 or 3...
what else?
I'm on a drug called Roaccitane for minor acne, and it makes me bleed really easily. I have blend from almost every part of my body now... (nose, lips, face, hands, arms, legs, feet, stomach, groin, arse... EVERYTHING.)

and now for you...
If you could instantly have one ability, what would it be and why? (not magical power, ability)

Date: 2005-09-09 07:51 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com
Wow! But no more heart problems?

Ability? To be very good at writing and/or drawing. Because I like doing both but neither comes to me as easily as I'd like. :)

Date: 2005-09-09 03:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] freethegayboys.livejournal.com
never had any problems since then. I'm an exceptionally healthy person, it's weird (other than the not learning to eat thingy)

that's a really cool ability, but it's subjective, isn't it? Do you mean write best sellers and draw realistically? Or... write fantasticly underrecognised works of art, and be a commercially succful artist? or... what else? Something else?

Date: 2005-09-09 04:15 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com
LOL how about write recognised works of art, and also realistically drawn commercially successful art? ;) I'd rather be good at it and not make (much) money off it - as long as others enjoy it - than be bad and make lots of money off it.

Not even sweets, in my case! Must come from our Mum being very strict about us having sweets and chocolate, so I was used to never eat much of either at once.
