Only 31 more days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!! \o/
One of the most impressive scenes in Return of the King is the charge of the Rohirrim at Pelennor fields - it never fails to tear me up! This scene - or at least the live action elements of it - was filmed near Twizel, a small town situated quite literally in the middle of the South island. Originally there were 250 riders from all over New Zealand involved, but after some dropped off due to the strenuous conditions, 150 remained. It's amazing to think that all the rest are digital horses and riders - you can hardly distinguish which ones are real and which are not! Hats off to all involved!
