There's also one on day... 10, "...or take a helicopert ride to Peter Jackson's favourite location" - not sure where that is. We can decide once we know. But yes the Ford of Bruinen sounds great! :)

Well - before I came over last November? There was a break. They started in winter quarters the week I came over. Of course coming back, having lots to do etc. - and then the winter quarters are off the beaten path. So I'd have had to call others to try and hitch a ride. And winter is always busy anyway, and I never went. SO of course by spring when they changed to the outdoor range again, I had totally gone out of the habit! *sheepish grin*

Yes - I doubt it will be this winter, but you never know. :) I still want that horsebow which the archery club president thought would be great for me! And next year I can afford it again, LOL. :)

Well if you buy the equipment, which I can imagine to be cheap, better remember to go regularly or it would be an expensive something to buy that you don't use ;)

I do know it was VERY VERY expensive at the time but it was the highlight of it all and well worth it. We split it between 4 of us who wanted to go from the party of 14. We had the pilot who took the hobbits about and we landed on the top of what they used as the Misty Mountains and that was amazing. We skimmed over the water and then up and up the sheer sides of mountains then over into the valley with steep sides all around. When we got out we were there -the Fords of Bruinen. OMG it was just as the film showed it.

Email vic and ask him. He won't mind

Good idea! I saw the other helicopter company that Red Carpet Tours are linking to on their site has one flight for NZ$300 - so I'd guess this one would be around that. But I'll e-mail Vic. :)

I did the helicoper (just the 20-min) and the short plane ride - the helicopter, in particular is VERY dependent on getting a good pilot. We had a crappy one, and it wasn't worthwhile, but others loved it. I did get my one shot of Dimrill Dale from the air, so I guess it wasn't a total waste!

Hope we'll have a good pilot then!
