And 30ish years ago you could have replaced "homosexuals" with "women" and "homosexual agenda" with "female agenda". 40ish years ago, it would have been "blacks" and "black agenda". Arrrrrrgh people like this just make me want to... Grrr! I really shouldn't give them even more energy than they already get! *takes deep calming breath*

Of course this is a homophobic group and therefore it will get the votes it wants from like-minded people who already know and read their homepage. Why not show them that there are other people out there too by participating and spreading the link around? There is some debate as to whether your vote is counted or not if you use a fake e-mail address. If you use your real e-mail address, you will get subscribed to their mailing list, but apparently they send you a confirmation mail about that where you will find a link to unsubscribe again. (Thanks to primula_baggins for that info!) If you're not in the US, use 90210 (California) as a zip code, or take one from a US friend's address!

It's just sick. I remember once a few years ago when a conservative religious coworker tried to get me to sign something like that and I was diplomatic because she was a coworker but I said with a smile that I would never ever be interested in signing anything so bigoted.

There are always people who hate other people for no good reason, and they will always claim these hated people have an "agenda" because that's a word that gets hackles up on a lot of other people who need somebody to blame for all their problems. Hitler did it. Stalin. Hussein. So many other little tin gods have done it. And self-proclaimed moral watchdogs do it. Bush is another one. He demonizes anybody who disagrees with him, and gets the Bushites all stirred up, and that takes attention off the way he's busy dismantling years of progress in civil rights.

Ah, the good old American Family Association. I've dealt with them before.

They once bought a full-page newspaper ad in my local paper spouting off nonsense about how sex and violence on television led to a host of societal ills such as poverty and teen pregnancy. So, I dashed off a letter in which I ripped them a new one. They're response was to put me on their mailing list and begin asking for money. D'oh!

You can unsubscribe, of course, but I used a temporary email account which I will delete shortly. I like the idea of them getting lots of bounceback messages.
