A little later than intended - but this means there's more. ;)

Various interviews with Guillermo del Toro in which he mentioned The Hobbit:

Speculation about what role the recently mentioned Doug Jones might have in The Hobbit

In somewhat related news:

And last but definitely not least:

Wellywood Technology helps children to walk

Animation technology used in blockbuster movies such as Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings is now helping children to walk.

Meh. That Doug Jones link isn't coming up for me. Does the site often have problems perhaps? As for me, wouldn't it be more difficult for him to play a troll than the elf he looks like in any case? ;) Also, I read that as "New Line still has Irons in fire" as if talking of Jeremy Irons for some role.

We're apparently going to get Jimmy Kimmel Live on TV from autumn onwards. I know it's the hottest thing just now, but the ads haven't exactly impressed me so far. It's bad when you age and even talk shows start appearing too flashy to you. And I bet Kimmel's still a little older than me, actually. '67 says IMDB.

I am so behind on my flist and don't know if you're already posted about this or not but I read in a Swedish paper that it's possible the Hobbit would be five movies and only the first one based on the book. Have you heard anything about that? Cause the paper further said that the other movies would fill the gap between the Hobbit and the Trilogy.

That seems rather unlikely, as a layperson who last read mostly all of the Tolkiens at least 12 years ago. I don't know if the lost histories style snippets gathered into books by Christopher Tolkien and whoever have something set and taking placing during that time since those I haven't read (outside Turin Turambar, whose story I'd be familiar with even otherwise, since he swiped it from Finns in any case), but it seems like nothing that vital at all happens during that time period. Aragorn wanders around a little, Bilbo ages? If you're not going to film something to the Silmarillion, which takes place hundreds (or was it thousands?) of years before, well, not much material to put in five movies from the couple of decades between Hobbit and LOTR.

Then again I haven't read most of the links relating to the movie from ODQ's side here either, so I don't know what people are talking about. It just seems unlikely to have even two movies out of the Hobbit + time between. It's a much shorter book after all.
