Gakked from various people on my flist: What song was #1 in the charts on the day I was born?

Switzerland: Demis Roussos "Goodbye, My Love, Goodbye"
Germany: Gilbert O'Sullivan "Get Down"
UK: Wizzard "See My Baby Jive"
USA: Paul McCartney and Wings "My Love"
New Zealand: Tony Orlando & Dawn "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree"

Don't remember any of these songs off the top of my head, and the only artists that I'm familiar with are Paul McCartney and Wings and Demis Roussos, plus I think I've heard (of) Wizzard before. Can't go look for Youtube videos of these songs, I'm afraid, since I'm at work.

You can search in Google and/or Wikipedia for "number one hits [enter year of birth] [enter country]" or something like that. I wanted to add Italy too since that's my mother's home country, but only found the number one hits from the year 2000 on. *pouts*

That's what I mean; I don't think there's a record for Spain's top hits from the year I was born... Lets see..

I didn't recognize all the titles of 'my songs,' either, but when I looked them up on YouTube, it turned out I knew all of them. I assume it will be the same for you.

sadly, I remember all of these... I feel like Methuselah. Demis Roussos got to number 1 in your country? Oh Switzerland! The shame! :P

It seems he was very popular in German-speaking countries, from what I remember my Mum saying about 70s hits.

And believe me, we had worse, WAY worse Top 10 and probably number One hits... certainly in the not too distant past. *shudders*
