Arch Nemesis writes: Sir Ian talks a bit about The Hobbit in this clip from TVNewZealand. He expects an announcement imminently, but states if it doesn’t happen soon – he may not do the film as he has other things planned.

It's quite understandable. Actors, like directors, can't put things on hold indefinitely. Come on MGM and get it sorted!!!

I rather feared this might happen! Gandalf has to be Ian as no one else would ever seem right, well not to me anyway. :(

I think Ian will do his level best to be free. He knows what the fans want and must realise that only he could play Gandalf in the same way that only Viggo could be Aragorn or Elijah, Frodo or Orli, Legolas......the list goes on!
