There's not only the first teaser poster featuring Benedict Cumberbatch's still-unnamed villain, but also a first "announcement" teaser trailer - including a version shown at a recent Japanese press promotion attended by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk (producer), Chris Pine and Benedict Cumberbatch, which is the same but has a teensy bit more tacked on at the end:

It's worth watching again and again just for the sheer voice porn that is Benedict's voiceover! If he speaks in that register during the whole movie, I may not be able to concentrate on the plot at all! *fans self* Karl Urban also shows up briefly.

There will be a new teaser trailer available on December 17 (which I understand will show from December 14 in IMAX cinemas that do not show the first 9 minutes of the film). I think there's a good chance he's Gary Mitchell; even the way he did that voice-over is reminiscent of the way Mitchell talked. I don't care, though, it's all fanfic to me. And I were writing a Trek fic, I would put Benedict in it too. :D \o/

LOL yes, whoever he is, what matters is that he's in it a lot! I may have to start reading Trek fic after this film... certainly the personal connection that Kirk and Benedict's villain seem to have will inspire lots of it! ;)

Oh yeah, I knew about it for a while. There were some papparazzi pictures from a fight scene between Spock and Benedict's character too, back when they were still shooting. I really cannot wait to see this now!

- Like you said : That voice ! I think I would forgive this villain anything, just because of his voice, LOL !

And he looks so good in that movie. The hair colour, the length of his hair / his hair-do, the clothes they have outfitted him with - it will indeed be hard to concentrate on the plot, or, indeed, it will be hard to despise the villain as you are supposed to do. I just can't resist that register of Benedict's voice !

Oh yes, he looks very good!

And at the press event in Tokyo, Benedict did stress that he's the villain, but he has good reasons for his actions, so I guess it will be even more difficult to hate him. :)
