that was adorable, I would do that too, given time and money and a bit more space! Peter Jackson built an underground hobbit hole that one accesses through the wine cellar of his house, but the tunnel has skeletons in it, aha.
If I could I would build a full size hobbit hole for me to live in! :D And yes I'd heard about PJ's - he actually had Bag End built into his garden, didn't he?
It is adorable, but having lived in that Valley for 15 years, and still having parents there, I can tell what is the absolute hardest thing to do on that hole. It's to keep the grounds green and the flowers blooming. Arizona has been in a drought for around 5 years now, and paying the water bill for that much landscaping has to be expensive. Many towns in the valley no longer allow homeowners to put grass in, they require something called "desert landscaping" which is rocks and desert plants.
