Some quick film updates

ourdramaqueenbefore I disappear for most of the evening, first to take a bath and then to start wrestling with that assignment...
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans:
While there won't be any Selene (Kate Beckinsale) and Michael (Scott Speedman), since this takes place in the dark ages, it seems that quite a few of the other characters from film 1/2 will return - including someone I'm rather excited about... Lucian!!! \o/ I loved him in the first film and was rather sorry to see him die. So now we will find out more about his back story, wheee! If you want to know some more about the plot etc., check out this recent report on Fangoria.com. No mention of Craig here, but yes he's definitely involved - along with other LotR veterans like Dan Hennah (art direction) and Tim Wong (stunt performer). :D
Chronicles of Riddick:
According to director David Twohy himself (see the Nov 13, 2007 entry in his blog), there still is hope that we'll be able to follow Riddick (and Vaako, I certainly hope!!!) to the Underverse:
Okay, okay, now on to the really important stuff like “What the fuck is happening with RIDDICK?” Yes, I get your emails demanding another movie; yes, I keep bumping into you guys in airports and at conventions and I take your pleas to heart. All I can say now is “We’re talking about it.” The DVD numbers were really good – we know that, and some potential financiers know that. But if another movie surfaces, it probably won’t be a Universal movie and probably will be an independent movie. Which means we’ll have to make it for substantially less than the last installment. But that’s okay. PITCH BLACK was $22 million all in. Maybe it’s time to go back to our roots – as we go on to The UnderVerse.
WHOOOOOOO!!! Everything crossable crossed that he and Vin and Karl (and of course the other important players like Judi Dench and Thandi Newton) can clear/coordinate their schedules soon and will be able to pull this off!

[ETA] Personally I still think PB is, all around, a better movie than CoR. It does not look low busget at all. If you can call 22 million low budget. I have no idea what CoR cost. And PB *was* a universal movie - small or not. In any case, I hope they will go ahead, and I hope at least Vin will come on board, even if his salary is a bit tight. I hope he's that kind of guy. And of course I hope Karl will bethere again, too! :D
