The IMAX website now has a list of the select IMAX theatres that show The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in HFR (48 fps). Mostly US and Canada, but some international theatres as well (at the very end of the entry).

Also, "Attend an IMAX midnight show of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey to receive this exclusive collector’s series of four character prints (while supplies last)! Check here for a list of participating theatres: http://bit.ly/HobbitIMAX" - from the official The Hobbit Facebook Page. Aren't they gorgeous?

The IMAX we are going to see the midnight screening at is on both lists, so we'll see it in HFR and we should be able to get our hands on the prints, hooray!

Bundling together all the info around pre-ordering tickets for The Hobbit in the US:

Regal Cinemas to Host a “Lord of the Rings” Marathon Across the U.S. on December 8th

LOTR marathon in AMC, Cinemark theatres

48 fps theaters announced for ‘Hobbit,’ available in 3D only

Buy tickets, get a free song - I DID NOT get a link for downloading the song after ordering my tickets from Fandango. *pouts* Should probably get in touch with them - but then again, I'll be getting the soundtrack anyway.

Complete Listing of Theaters Showing Hobbit – HFR 3D, IMAX 3D, IMAX, Dolby Atmos

There is now also a list of US theatres showing the HFR (48fps) version on the official The Hobbit website! Please be aware that both lists are sometimes mis-filing cities/theatres - for example, NJ venues are listed under New York in both. If you search the file/page for your city or cinema name, that's probably your best bet.

Sitting on tenterhooks until AMC Theatres open ticket sales for The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey, which apparently happens at noon EST today.

The confusing thing is that the AMC theatre closest to us which shows the HFR (High Frame Rate, a.k.a. 48 fps) version, lists it as "High Frame Rate IMAX 3D" - but according to TORn's list of theatres that show the HFR 3D version, the IMAX 3D version is NOT in HFR! So here's hoping that the AMC screening we're looking at actually IS in HFR... As some of you know, I'm not overly fond of 3D - though Brave was bearable and didn't give me a headache, as some other 3D movies have in the past - but with the HFR version, I think The Hobbit will be worth it! So I want to make sure that I get to see it the way PJ intended for it to be seen. *fingers crossed*

Also hope the tickets for the midnight screening won't be sold out already by the time we get back from grocery shopping. *toes crossed too, for good measure*

Yesterday on my way home I got some cash at my bank's ATM, and my way to the next bus stop leads past the cinema. It's closed - nothing special, since it always is after the winter season - but what was astonishing was the sign they had put out "We'll be back on [date] with 3D and digital!"

o_O

Wow. Never would have thought they'd get 3D capability this fast! Of course I couldn't care less and it doesn't change the fact that they're still showing basically everything dubbed, so same difference for me.

Our craptastic cinema's flyer caught my eye today at the post office, and when I looked at the program for this week I almost keeled over in surprise - they're showing Eastern Promises. In English with subtitles. o_O Guess they noticed the Oscar nominations! I may have to go see it again... :)

And speaking of Viggo. *giggle*

Our craptastic cinema shows a film in English!!! Death at a Funeral is on Thursday through Sunday, and I might just have to go watch it in support of one of the BDHs*: Alan Tudyk. I've seen the trailer and it looked quite funny - Alan certainly will be, at the very least! :D

*Big Damn Heroes, for the poor uninitiated among us. Go rent/buy Firefly and/or Serenity!!! ;)

I inquired with Warner Switzerland about Everything is Illuminated, and they promptly replied and said that there's a 99% start date for the French part (though he didn't mention what date) and that in the German part it will probably come out in time for Christmas!!!! OMGYESPLEASESQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!
