HBO acquires rights to Obama doc
To be produced by Edward Norton's Class 5 Films

By Gregg Goldstein

Nov 6, 2008, 06:34 PM ET

HBO has closed a seven-figure deal for U.S. rights to an untitled Barack Obama documentary from producer Edward Norton.

Norton's Class 5 Films approached the Obama campaign in early 2006 about a doc chronicling the new president elect's history in politics. Directors Amy Rice and Alicia Sams were granted extensive access to film Obama before he launched his presidential run in 2007 and have continued their shoot through his historic victory this week.

against shipment, of course:

Commemorative "Yes We Did" stickers from MoveOn.org.

These commemorative stickers mark Barack Obama's historic victory and were designed by groundbreaking artist Shepard Fairey—the same artist who designed the world-famous, iconic "Hope" poster for Obama.

You can get one sticker for free. For a $3+ donation, we'll send you 5 stickers. For a $20+ donation, we'll send 50 stickers. Stickers are 4.5" x 6" (about the size of a postcard) and may take 5-7 weeks to arrive.

Congrats Obama: Let's Do it Together

I saw my American coworker today whose absentee ballot I had signed as a witness a few weeks ago. I gave her two thumbs up - "Well done!" She laughed. "Oh yes! I take all the credit!" :D

I can't stop grinning and/or tearing up whenever I think of this morning, or see footage from Obama's speech, or hear/see others' joyful, hopeful reactions to his election. *silly grin*

But I think I better drag myself to bed now, before I nod off in front of the computer... have a good day/night! :)

WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I had woken up a little earlier still (I woke up about 45 minutes before my alarm anyway - as often this past week) so I could have seen the whole speech - but this is amazing! My downstairs neighbours are lucky I didn't squee out loud... :D

WELL DONE AMERICA! WELCOME BACK TO THE WORLD COMMUNITY! \o/

I don't think I've ever had this many candles lit at one time... :)

Of course I'm not only rooting for Obama for President, but also hoping that California voters will say "No on 8"!

Lately I keep zapping into random episodes of Numb3rs on ITV3 (omg did I mention that I LOVE Bluewin TV?!) - unfortunately I keep missing the first half, roughly, but still, I'm enjoying it a lot. And David Krumholtz is rather cute, with the long hair. ;)

Oh yes - I think one of tonight's guest stars was the actress who plays Mother Petrelli on Heroes, just in blonde, and another one played Steve Sandvoss' mother in Latter Days! :D

/random

And speaking of counting - is it Wednesday yet???!!! *prays for Obama to win*

Happy Halloween, to those who celebrate it! *uses fitting icon*

I just did my little bit to help Barack Obama get another vote: I am one of two witnesses on the absentee ballot of an American coworker. :)

It's a rather amusing thing though - you only put your signature and address on the ballot. How they want to decipher the name from the signature or check that the witness really is who they claim, I don't know!

Whoa!

Al Gore supports Obama for president
Associated Press

June 16, 2008, 03:56 PM
FLINT, Mich. -- Al Gore said he is backing Barack Obama and will do whatever he can to help him get to the White House.

In a letter to be e-mailed to Obama supporters, Gore said Obama has united a movement over the past year and a half.

The former vice president also asks for donations to help fund Obama's effort -- the first time he's asked members of AlGore.com to contribute to a political campaign.

Gore is one of the most popular figures in the Democratic Party, but he kept a low profile in the primary campaign. He's planning to appear with Obama at a rally Monday night in Detroit.

Back to LotR: Referring to my previous post, in case anyone was a bit confused about the article regarding the lands on Miramar Peninsula which PJ may or may not want to build on, Kristin Thompson explains things like the Treaty of Waitangi and the Tenths Trust in her blog.

Also, more from James McAvoy regarding The Hobbit:

James McAvoy Continues Shooting Down ‘Hobbit’ Rumors But Tells Us Who Should Play Bilbo
2 Comments | Published by Shawn Adler on Monday, June 16, 2008 at 3:41 pm.

Last December, I wrote a casting call article, asking blog readers who they would most like to see step into the hairy feet of Bilbo Baggins in an eventual “Hobbit” film. (Which, at the time, was far from a foregone conclusion.)

“James McAvoy,” user dafydd wrote. “You know it makes sense.”

It does. Or, rather, it did, until McAvoy himself shot down growing rumors that he’d play the heroic Ring Bearer in Guillermo Del Toro’s two new films.

“I’m a huge fan of the Tolkien saga, everything to do with Middle-earth,” he reiterated this weekend to MTV News. “But no there’s no truth in the fact that they’ve approached me yet.”

But that won’t stop McAvoy from playing along with our readers. So who would he cast in the role made famous by Ian Holm?

“Ian Holm!” McAvoy proclaimed as if the answer was self-evident. “I don’t know if he’d be able to go back, but he SHOULD do it.”

Just caught part of Senator Edward Kennedy's speech at the American University in Washington, in support of Barack Obama, and Obama's reaction speech. That's quite an endorsement, to have the Kennedy clan behind him!

Totally unrelated - I love my dentist. Had my annual checkup today (though last year's didn't take place due to scheduling issues), and it was confirmed once again that he never suggests to do anything unless it is really necessary. And we noticed, while chatting, that my fist appointment with im was 20 years ago! I knew it was still back in school (towards the end), but gosh, I'd never thought about the numbers. o_O

Last but not least - happy 27th birthday to our favourite gorgeous blue-eyed young man, Elijah Wood! May the coming year be full of success, health, love and happiness!
