Unfortunately due to Real Life matters, [livejournal.com profile] bunniewabbit soon won't be able to spend as much time scouring the internet for exclusive Elijah tidbits as she used to. :( However, generous as she is, bunnie decided to share her search techniques with us, so we can all search and find and, most importanty, share the Elijah treasures hidden in the depths of the internet. So if you want to help, or even if you just want to squee about the findings of others, please join [livejournal.com profile] elijah_finds. And do spread the link around - the more of us participate, the more we'll find! :D

On a semi-related note, I've been itching to make an icon of this one spoiler picture of Elijah in Paris je t'aime, but seeing the spoilery nature and as it's only just opened in the US and not yet in the UK and many other countries, I instead went for a wallpaper, so I can at least stare at it on my own desktop... :) I do want to share it with those of you who have seen Pjt or don't mind to be spoiled. And as a further "warning", it's from the last bunch of spoiler pictures [livejournal.com profile] bunniewabbit posted a few weeks ago, and it was the one that made her and many of us go all unnecessary, while others were a bit squicked. But enough hints - I hope those of you venturing behind the cut will enjoy it!

DO NOT LOOK AT THIS WALLPAPER UNLESS YOU DON'T MIND SPOILERS FOR PARIS JE T'AIME!!! )

Aha! That actress I'd noticed in the last segment of Paris je t'aime but couldn't remember where I knew her from? She's called Margo Martindale, and I saw her in the pilot (and a later episode) of Medium, and also in Joaquin Phoenix' film It's All About Love. :)

Sweeeeeeet - OK on the one hand I wish I could get into the Press Access Area for Living 'til the End and download the pictures they have in there - but the production notes at least are available freely! I love what they write about Sean:

Jack was the unknown component. “I knew who he was on paper, that he had
dark curls and an insecure smile, but I didn’t know who he was in real life,”
recalls Goodwin. After auditioning many actors for the role, Sean Maher was
brought in, bringing with him a smooth sensitivity which moved him to the short
list. “After he read, my casting directors and I knew he was Jack. There was this
defenselessness about Sean which balances the fact that he is both handsome
and masculine. Cut for spoilers )
Goodwin remembers the final call backs of the seven actors, who all read with
Jaime, “There was this unmistakable chemistry between Sean and Jaime, which
locked my decision. The physical composition was obvious. But, projecting the
character’s relationship, one could sense an emotional division between them
that would eventually dissolve. Jack and Audrey internally battle each other
throughout the story and one could witness the inherent dynamics between the
two actors right there in front of us.”
Another cut for more spoilers )

And having read these notes, things make more sense now than just after reading the short synopsys and watching the trailer. Is it January yet?! *craves DVD* I guess I'll just have to watch the trailer again, for the umpteenth time...

Just got back - am damn tired but wanted to post this before going to bed, and before the memories fade.

Yay, I was lucky and got to see Paris je t'aime! Elijah's segment (the 14th, if I counted correctly - it's after Bob Hoskins') does stand out, though not negatively, I felt. Well I guess I'm biased... in several ways. ;) But seriously, there were only two segments earlier in the film that fell through for me: the one with the Asian hairdresser and the following one with the mime. All others were good, some very, particularly (this is not an exhaustive list, there were a couple more) the one with the Muslim girl, the one in the printer's shop, the one with Steve Buscemi, the one with Bob Hoskins and Fanny Ardant, and the one with Ben Gazzara and Jeanne Moreau. And the last segment too - I'm still trying to remember where I've seen that actress and what her name is, as she's in something I've seen several times, but have to check IMDB for her name as I forgot to look it up in the credits, duh. In any case, what she says at the very end... it quite perfectly describes the way I felt when standing inside Bag End in Hobbiton.

Now, as for Elijah's segment... here be spoilers )

and a blow-by-blow, for those who want to know the scene in detail )

Btw - if you get to see it, do watch the end montage (before the credits). :)

[livejournal.com profile] nickeyb and I had a good time yesterday at Collectormania 10! Got to see David Wenham, Ian Somerhalder, Maggie Grace and Sam Anderson, who were all lovely. Too bad they didn't allow posed pictures with Daisy! But it was fun, and we were lucky to run into [livejournal.com profile] salwood and [livejournal.com profile] patsie at the Costa's before they went on their respective ways home. Couldn't see [livejournal.com profile] trianne anywhere unfortunately, and found out when we got home that her car had broken down 10 minutes into the journey to Milton Keynes! :( At least there's still RingCon though! Sorry [livejournal.com profile] kneonlight and Mrs. Kneonlight for the change in program - would have loved to see you two again! But who knows, maybe at another Collectormania or Serenity: Infinity... :)

I found an adorable little doll of Gizmo (from the Gremlins) at one merchandise stall, and since I had wanted one since the first film came out, I of course had to take him home with me. *g* One stall also had dirt cheap complete trading card sets (£2.50 and £3.00 mostly) so I got the Lost: Revelations, Firefly and Serenity sets. [livejournal.com profile] nickeyb did some successful clothes shopping at the mall, so an overall good day was had despite it being tiring. :)

Today [livejournal.com profile] nickeyb is at a roleplaying event which she'd booked for a while, so she left a short while ago and won't be home until late evening, which gives me time to sort through and pack my stuff, do some more revision etc. It's hard to believe that tomorrow I'll already be flying home again - this holiday certainly has proven again that time flies when you're having fun! At least I still have another week before I have to get back to work, but it will be filled with revision for my exam on 10th October. Eeek! If I'm lucky and the arthouse cinema that currently is showing Paris je t'aime in Zurich keeps it on for another week, cut for rambling about cinema times etc. )

*yawns* Right, time for a bite...
ourdramaqueen: (lij hotass)
Since I'll be in the UK when Paris je t'aime is released in Switzerland and I don't know whether I'll be able to catch it after I get back, I was looking around for a UK release date. I couldn't find one, but found out which company is handling international sales for it (Celsius Entertainment), so I inquired regarding a UK distribution deal. Their reply:

The release date is not yet confirmed but will likely be sometime towards the end of the year.

So there's hope for the Lij fans in Britain - and it looks like I'll have to hope that Swiss cinemas will show it longer than two weeks... *crosses fingers tightly*

[livejournal.com profile] bunniewabbit kindly pointed out these scans about Elijah's segment in Paris je t'aime - which contain MAJOR SPOILERS both in pictures and (French) text. Of course if you already read the spoiler I posted not too long ago, these scans will just be visual confirmation of that. omfg bring on September! *fans self*

For those interested, here's the translation of the parts in italics, which are outlining the segment. (The rest of the text is about the arrondissement itself.) My French is quite rusty, so corrections are welcome!

cut for major spoilers )

One bit of non-spoilery information I can give you is that Elijah's character is called David. And I do believe these scans are from a guidebook to the film locations, which seems to be available in France: paperback, hardcover.
ourdramaqueen: (lij te anau)
I think I just spontaneously came a little when I read the brief synopsys of Elijah's segment in Paris je t'aime that [livejournal.com profile] chocolatebunny got from the A&F forum. MAJOR SPOILERS obviously - if you don't mind that, read here. OMFG it confirms what I'd heard as a rumour...

*mewls*

*goes for cold shower to avoid spontaneous combustion*

Whooohoooo, Senator Film picked up Paris je t'aime for Germany!

From a Hollywood Reporter article about their deals in Cannes:

The group also picked up a couple of festival titles, including the Un Certain Regard opener "Paris je t'aime" and Richard Linklater's In Competition entry "Fast Food Nation."

Guess it's looking good for it coming to Switzerland too then! *crosses fingers tightly*

OMG!!!!! It's already listed for Swiss release on 21 September!!!!! *bounce bounce bounce* Of course that's when I've thought to go to the UK (Serenity Squared is the weekend before IIRC), but maybe it'll (still) be in cinemas over there at that point, or then it's on in Switzerland long enough so I can go see it when I get back... *crossing fingers*

And I hope that during lunch break I can start watching the Lost Season 2 finale... eeeeep!
ourdramaqueen: (lij te anau)
On ARTE (in Europe) they're having a show about Cannes and just showed a bit about Paris je t'aime - they followed Vincenzo Natali around, the director of Elijah's segment. Elijah's in it a bit, they showed him saying hi to Vincenzo and talking a bit. Also, at the hotel, Vincenzo showed the team what a director takes to Cannes, and among these items were some of his own scripts - one of which he said was for Elijah! He would like to work with him again as Elijah is so wonderful to work with. Wheee! *bounce* It was only a couple of minutes long and I recorded it (sans the first minute, as I had to scramble to find a tape) but at the moment don't have the means to transfer it to the computer, I'm afraid.
ourdramaqueen: (lij sunshine)
Haven't seen this mentioned on my flist yet... A clip of Lij on French Canal+ TV show "Au Coeur de Cannes" - he's in the 3eme partie on Vendredi 19 mai (which was the day it opened to for me). You can hear Lij speak a little French, but of course when he speaks English, the live translation is dubbed over him talking. He says that The Passenger is coming up pretty soon - better grow back that hair quickly then! ;)

Love fest for 'Paris' in Cannes
Army of directors, actors show support at conference

By Charles Masters
CANNES -- Despite an ongoing wrangle between the producers of "Paris je t'aime," the multitude of filmmaking talent attached to the movie was unanimously upbeat about participating in the collective film about love in the City of Light.

Participating directors and actors were so numerous that they barely fit on the stage for a press conference in the Palais on Thursday ahead of the movie's evening gala presentation to open Un Certain Regard.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] trailer_spot just posted the trailer here, along with two clips which most of you have probably already seen. Elijah's segment features quite prominently in the trailer (which obviously contains SPOILERS), and as well in the "je t'aime" clip. Such an adorable dork! ♥
ourdramaqueen: (lij sexy badass)
Saw some people on my flist complaining about LJ going to Richtext automatically when they make a new entry - [livejournal.com profile] elanorgardner pointed out this entry in the [livejournal.com profile] lj_support community dealing with that problem. Sheesh...

Dom on Craig Ferguson tonight, for the Americans on my flist.

[livejournal.com profile] bunniewabbit has found pics of Elijah in Cannes. He's wearing the black, slightly transparent Hooligans London screening shirt, AGAIN with a t-shirt/undershirt underneath, tsk. Boy, we want to see you wear it WITHOUT the undershirt!!! *goes all unnecessary for a moment at the image* That's your fault, [livejournal.com profile] dutch_eowyn! *cough* Um, oh yes, and bunnie has links to some videos too. On the top of the one page there's a banner for Hooligans, opening May 31st in French cinemas, yay! :D

Argh, want to icon some of those pics but I am way too knackered and need to crawl off to bed now that I've finished perusing my flist... hope I get around to replying to comments tomorrow.

Nighty night!

And for those interested - an article about the legal tussle between the producers, also from HR:

'Paris' not feeling the love
Producers involved in legal tussle

By Charles Masters

CANNES -- "Paris, je t'aime" (Paris, I Love You) may well be a film about amour, but there is little love lost between the producers of the portmanteau picture, which has its gala screening tonight for the opening of Un Certain Regard.

The film is the subject of a legal tussle, with the project's initial producer, Emmanuel Benbihy, unhappy that two of a planned 20 segments were cut from the film by Claudie Ossard, who boarded the floundering project two years ago as a white-knight producer.

ETA: Ahahaahaaa you go Ian! According to a brief radio report about the Da Vinci Code screening in Cannes, Ian McKellen said the Vatican really should be happy that there is talk about Jesus and Mary Magdalene - at least then no one can claim that Jesus was gay. ♥
