New Line & ‘The Hobbit’ Move to the WB? ‘Not True’
January 23rd, 2008 by xoanon | Discuss

Contrary to previous reports on IMDB there is “no truth” to the rumor that New Line Cinema’s Bob Shaye & Michael Lynne were being sacked, and all projects, including The Hobbit were moving completely over to the Warner Bros. camps. A New Line spokesperson stated via email to us today that the story was false, and they are seeking a correction on IMDB.

Also, there's a new poll on TORn - just look at the right of the above page: If it was your decision, who would you cast in the role of Bilbo Baggins for the new 'Hobbit' movies? (Pick up to 3)

By the way, the results of their Hobbit director poll are available in the poll archive - the top four are:

Fran Walsh (35%, 2375 Votes)
Guillermo del Toro (34%, 2316 Votes)
Steven Spielberg (21%, 1413 Votes)
Sam Raimi (21%, 1395 Votes)

I must say, apart from Fran (who I believe will be just as much too busy as PJ will be, if they go ahead with a 2009 shoot date) my favourite still is Sam Raimi, because he and PJ have a similar background (cheap but original horror movies that became cult, anyone?), they both have a wicked, dark sense of humour, Sam has worked in New Zealand before, and with quite a few of the people who will likely be involved behind the scenes (Hercules, Xena). The two films I have seen of Guillermo so far were Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy, and both were rather "stylized fantasy" like in look, which LotR wasn't and The Hobbit shouldn't be either. Oh well, I guess we'll see. :)

Two interesting interviews:

1) John Barrowman in Scotland on Sunday

2) Ian McKellen in Factory Magazine - right at the end, he mentions he'd love to be in The Hobbit. Be sure to download the podcast, which has a little more than the print version.

Also, I was remiss in posting this link so far - TORn have a poll up in which you can choose who you'd like to direct The Hobbit - right now the three leads are:

Fran Walsh (38%, 1,250 Votes)
Guillermo del Toro (35%, 1,158 Votes)
Sam Raimi (22%, 731 Votes)

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] txvoodoo kindly provided a download of Dom's appearance on Craig Ferguson - you can find it here. omfg I couldn't believe that sketch at the beginning... ROTFLMAO!!! Is there any talk show appearance of Dom's that doesn't have any gay innuendo? *snort* But ooooh the highlight was definitely when he was handling these animals... particularly the snakes! "Anyone in the audience?" - if I had been there you'd SO have heard me scream, "ME! ME!" and could have watched me run down to the stage. :D GUH, Dom and snakes, an irresistible combination. I really do hope he'll get some animal/environmental show, that would be so great. Odd though that he didn't mention I Sell the Dead when Craig asked what he'd been doing! Eeeeeeeeeeeeh LOST IS BACK!!!!! If episode 3 of season 3 is an indication of things to come, omg season 3 will soooo blow season 1 out of the water! *hopes*

My wireless is back, yay! Turns out it actually wasn't the router itself, but the transformer box on the cable that was fried. So now I have a backup router, and hopefully this new cable/transformer box will hold longer than the old one - I mean, a little over two years, come on!

The only fly in the ointment (apart from the fact that I slept about oh, 4 hours last night even though I was really tired): two things, closely related, that should be moving, aren't. *checks again* Nope. *sigh* Paaaaaatience young Padawan, patience! *eats around fly*

I'm sure there were several other things I meant to post about, but Brain has run off once again. Should you see it, please send it back to me by priority mail, thanks. ;)

In the meantime, I neeeed your help because I cannot decide between these three icon variations: )
