Sorry to spam your flist, but my roommate just sent me a link to this Brisk Commercial featuring none other than Machete himself (Danny Trejo) as a claymation figure! It's hilarious - basically the plot of Machete in one minute, so spoilers, obviously (though not much that hasn't been in the various trailers):

There's also a short behind the scenes video with Danny. I just love this man! )

I really need to get the DVD, now that it's out!

Whooot! The *real* trailer for Robert Rodriguez' Machete starring Danny Trejo is out! Still looks like some good, trashy fun - can't wait to see it! :D

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] trailer_spot for pointing this out to me:

Machete Is A Go For Rodriguez
And he'll re-do Predator as well

You may remember this stonkingly good trailer from the Grindhouse experience. Well, prepare to see a full-length version, with the news that Robert Rodriguez is finally moving ahead with his much-mooted Machete film. That's due to start shooting in June, Rodriguez co-directing with his editor Ethan Maniquis.

The story, in case you're in work and can't watch the above trailer, sees day labourer and ex-Federale Machete (Danny Trejo) hired to carry out an assassination, but double-crossed and left for dead. He goes on a quest for revenge against the man responsible. We can only hope that they keep the, "This time they fucked with the wrong Mexican" tagline.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez has also finished a script for Predators, the proposed relaunch of the Predator franchise. Note the "s" on the end of that name; this isn't a simple remake, it seems, but a take on the franchise that involves multiple dreadlocked freckly-faced polyjawed hunters. Let's hope it is to Predator what Aliens was to Alien, and not just another disappointing Alien Vs Predator-alike mish-mash of ideas.

But before he does any of this, Rodriguez has to finish work on Nerverackers, a futuristic sci-fi thriller due out in 2010. So now that we've got a better idea of his dance card for the next couple of years, which are you most looking forward to?

Helen O'Hara

I can't wait to see this! *bounce*

Had some weird dream last night in which I was a journalist, I think, who'd been abducted by some mobster in connection with some bigger scheme which took place before and I don't remember a thing of now. I was sitting next to my captor, tied up and miserable, when two other mobsters joined us, one of them "played" by Danny Trejo, looking vaguely like this *points to icon*. Unfortunately I woke up soon after, when we'd all changed location to some big hall for some reason and I was apprehensively curious to find out what would happen, particularly since I'd gotten the feeling that Danny's character had some sympathy for my situation.

Like I said, weird. :)

That's too funny. I had a parcel in the mail today which confused me. It was one of those yellow padded envelopes, so I was thinking it might have been from eBay since I couldn't have thought who would still send me a gift - not one this big. But the sticker said it was from Amazon. Usually they use cardboard boxes, so huh. I look inside, and it's my Lost S3 DVD set. Then I notice the sticker with the return address. No, it wasn't sent from the US, where I had ordered it, nor the UK nor Germany: it was sent from Auckland, New Zealand. o_O

Am watching Reindeer Games, with Charlize Theron (to my private amusement as a redhead), a very sexy Gary Sinise with long hair and a small moustache and beard, and Danny Trejo as one of Gary's guys. (Ben who? Oh, Affleck? Who cares? ;)) Really funny movie, witty dialogue. I liked this exchange between Danny's character and Gary's - Danny's was reading a magazine while Gary's was driving the truck they were in (this is not word for word exact, but you'll get the gist):

D: Research says that retail makes 50% of its annual profits between December 1st to 25th. That's half a year's profit in one month. Now it seems to me an intelligent country would invent a second gift-giving event in May or June, to help business.

G: Ever since you started evening school you've been giving me a headache.

Well, it was funny the way they delivered their lines. *g*

Dang, looks like I missed Danny's last scene while writing this? Oh well. *g* The film is finished, so it's time for bed - five day weekend, wheee!!!

Came across this wonderful interview with Danny Trejo "Danny Trejo: The illustrated man", where he mostly talks about the (hopefully) upcoming Machete, but another project of his that comes up at the end is his guest stint on Desperate Housewives episode 2.08 "The Sun Won't Set":

Crave Online: How did you like being in Desperate Housewives?

Danny Trejo: I gotta tell you, I almost didn't do it. My agent Gloria, when she said, "Okay, there's this job on Desperate Housewives. They'll pay you well." I said, "Wait a minute. Desperate Housewives? Danny Trejo?" I hate to say I'd never seen the show. So we argued back and forth and finally, "Okay, let's do it." I did not realize how many people watch that show. It's funny, it's amazing. I hang out at this place called Chubby's automotive in Sylmar and there's a lot of old friends of mine, ex-convicts and ex-drug addicts that started to show up there. They always tease me about, "Oh, here comes the movie star." I walk up, there's about six of them standing there, they've all got tattoos on their neck and tank tops. They say, "Oh, here he comes. What are you working on?" I say, "Desperate Housew- -" "That's my favorite show!" What? "Oh, I love that show. What episode are you going to be on?" Eva signed me a stack of pictures for them.

Crave Online: Do you watch it now?

Danny Trejo: No, I don't have time to watch it.

Crave Online: Do you get recognized more now since you were on a hit TV show?

Danny Trejo: Absolutely. It's so funny because usually, like all the thugs and the kitchen help and kids recognize me, but now I have housewives. It launched me a new career.

ROTFL!!! I don't watch DH but I did see this episode and yeah, I can just imagine. That was a lovely guest role he had there with a nice little twist. :)

Oh yikes, I better go to bed! Night night and sweet dreams, my dears!

Oh boy

Another example in horrible dubbing: xXx. I only started watching it because yeah, it's Vin and Danny Trejo has a small role in it. Neither of their dub voices sound anything like the real ones - not anywhere near as low and not the slightest hint of the growly quality that's so characteristic for them both. Ugh.

Oh yeah: Marton Csokas doesn't look too bad with long curly hair, though less slick would look better IMHO. :)

Well, now that Danny's gone again I can spare myself more of this 'horror' and go take that bath... ;)

Final remark in this post: TGIF!!!!
ourdramaqueen: (danny trejo not to be messed with)
If you didn't then you either didn't read my LJ very often or thoroughly lately, or don't know me very well. Or both. ;)

I must be hormonal today or something - first I cried at The House of Flying Daggers - You were right [livejournal.com profile] ladysunrope, it's amazing! - and then I teared up during Chocolat (on TV, dubbed), during the scene after the birthday party (not to name spoilers) - which I've never done before. How very silly, heh.

Also, congrats to PJ for being #35 on EW.com's list of the 50 Smartest People in Hollywood! :)

And last but not least, I can't wait to see the film Robert Rodriguez is making/will make based on one of the fake trailers which they apparently showed with his and Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse double feature: Machete, starring Danny Trejo. The trailer - which is NOT WORKSAFE - just looks so delightfully cheesy and late-70's/early-80's-cheap-action-flick. :)

Favourite lines: "They just f**ked with the wrong Mexican!" and, "Please Father, have mercy!" - "God has mercy. I don't!" BLAM! *snigger* Yes, I obviously can have a very sick sense of humour... :D And can I just say I love it when Danny wears his hair open? *whimper*
ourdramaqueen: (blood ties henry)
I'd just have to tackle-hug him! Why? Well, read the following excerpt from the blog Tanya Huff has on the Lifetime TV website (she's the author of the "Blood" books on which Blood Ties is based). This is about last week's episode, "Wrapped":

And then Peter told me they'd got Danny Trejo to play role cut for those totally spoiler-phobic ). Definitely way cool! Danny Trejo, for those of you who don't know, is one of those amazing character actors who've been in hundreds of television episodes and movies. Check his IMDB listing and I can guarantee you've seen something he's been in. He's not the kind of guy who disappears into the background and I've been a fan of his for a long time now. He works a lot with Robert Rodriguez and he was on Death Row with Kyle. Which is how we got him. It was Kyle's idea. Like I said, definitely way cool.

That's too funny, just last night I remarked to [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel on Kyle and Danny having been in that movie together, after having noticed their names on the IMDB listing. Squeeeee! Thank you Kyle!!! *virtual tacklehug*

And can I just say how much I love that Tanya can step back enough from her creation to fangirl the series, even though of course they're deviating constantly and particularly when an episode, like this one, is directly based on one of her books? ♥

Now if only the fan sites - anyone - could get hold of mid/hi-res promo pictures again, I'd be a very happy fangirl... yes, particularly of Danny in this episode, but generally any pics of any episode would be welcome!

Everything crossable crossed for Lifetime renewing the series for a (real) second season... particularly with only three episodes being left in this first (faux second) season, and if the end of "Wrapped" is anything to go by, things are starting to unravel... *gulp*

This meme was going around about a month ago but I didn't get around to it earlier:

(1) List 5 celebrities you would have sex with without even asking questions.
(2) Put all of them IN ORDER of your lust for them. (5 - 1, 1 is the hottest.)
(3) Say which movie/show/thing it was that hooked you.
(4) Supply photos for said people.
(5) Tag five people!

Part of why it took me so long is that I wanted to not make it the obvious choices - I mean, it's no surprise when I say I'd shag Elijah or Sean Maher or Karl Urban, right? No, here's a few men I don't constantly drool and swoon about, but still find sexy and yeah, I would SO shag them without question... To make this really fresh and different, I have also avoided listing anyone who showed up on my List of Lust in February 2006. As usual it was difficult for me to put these men in a particular order, but this is about it as of today – tomorrow it might already look totally different. ;)

The five celebs ODQ would have sex with without even asking questions )

So this was it - I hope I was able to surprise you at least a little! :) I'm not tagging anyone, so those who haven’t done it yet and want to, feel free.

Phew! Off to bed now… night night, sweet dreams everyone!
