Finally got around to watching the 11th Hour, and just wanted to post a brief and non-spoilery comment: I must say I liked #11 a lot, and also the new companion - Emily, right? They're off to a good start and I'm looking forward to the next episode; some interesting foreshadowing for the whole season in the preview! I'm especially looking forward to seeing a certain character again from Series 4... :)

1) I've seen the Doctor Who S4 finale for what, the third time now? I think it could be the thirtieth time and it would still break my heart.

2) omg Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead tomorrow!!! \o/

3) Edward Woodward on Eastenders?! o_O

4) Reading "Wizard's First Rule", the first book in Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth ersies on which Legend of the Seeker is based, and am enjoying it a lot - lovely to see things fleshed out, and very interesting to see where book and series differ. The one thing I'm glad that they changed is Darken Rahl's hair colour: In the book he's blond and wearing white, in the series they thank goodness went with dark hair which looks SO much better on him. Oh and the red velvet... rowwwr!

Hope I'll sleep less crappy than last night, as I have planned to go get more soil tomorrow to repot a few plants and fill up one of the big boxes, but if I'm too low on energy, well... Also need to seed some more plants, for which I still have special soil at home, so that at least I will be able to do in any case. Some of the flowers that I seeded last Saturday are already peeking out! \o/

Bed now - Happy Easter everyone! :D

I caught the end of the Doctor Who Confidential Special by chance, hadn't heard about it but then no surprise since it was only announced yesterday I believe?

Anyway, we have a new Doctor.

Don't know this guy at all so I'm curious to see him in character - in 2010. Too funny that he's been in several projects with Billie Piper. Here's some more info about him, plus an interview clip, which of course people like me living outside the UK can't watch.

Have caught up on Series 1 over Christmas and while I liked Nine well enough, I can definitely say I'm a Ten girl, so I'm looking forward to the four Specials in 2009, although with a weeping eye because they'll be the last with David Tennant. :)

[livejournal.com profile] saura - thanks a lot for your card and the Santa ornament, I love it! *hugs*

Also, I totally forgot to update/finish my 8 Days meme, so here goes:

Day 6, the 25th: Nice Chinese Fondue dinner with sister and her family, and then the Doctor Who Christmas special. I thought David and Dennis Morrissey were great together, it looked like they had a ball. :) Now to wait until Easter for the next one... Gah! Oh and apparently rumour is that Torchwood will air in the summer, possibly July?! If that's true, they better do it before the summer holidays start, since I can't very well keep up while in New Zealand!

Day 7, the 26th and Day 8, the 27th: Errr... Nothing particular that I can remember, really, though I'm sure there was one thing or another. I'd say sleeping in, but I've not been sleeping very well lately. But being able to just stay home, watch DVDs, lounge about and occasionally cross something off my to-do list is certainly good. :)

Right, now off to bed with me in hopes of being able to fall asleep before 5AM (it's 3:15AM right now). Night night!
ourdramaqueen: (doctor who handsome devil)
At long last, a Doctor icon. :)

And now off with me - tomorrow I actually need to go out and get some things done, but at least it's not work, so I can still sleep in. \o/

Night night!

I finished watching the S4 finale of Doctor Who a few minutes ago. Still have tears running down my face. That's just... that's not fair!!!! *sniff*

Christmas special the day after tomorrow though - and omg I can watch it live, whee!

OMG THANK GOODNESS DOCTOR WHO 4.13 IS ON TOMORROW ALREADY!!!!!!!!

*takes deep breath* Yeah I know a bit about how it ends, but still!!!! *distressed whimper*

I think I officially need a 10 icon... actually I would have had one for months already, if I could have gotten the animated gif down to whatever the max size is that LJ allows in userpics, without compromising the image quality too much! What do you people use to make animated gifs? It seems to me that Adobe ImageReady creates either good quality with huge file size or good file size with crappy quality. *eyeroll*
ourdramaqueen: (wood witch)
Almost everyone on my flist is doing it... and so am I. And yet I didn't turn out to be a sheep in the Cute Animal Test, but... *drum roll* )

I watched Doctor Who episode 2.12 "The Girl in the Fireplace" earlier. For the second time, the first time having been yesterday evening. (I've only seen very little of Seasons 1 and 2, am now caught up on Season 3 and BBC3 are starting on Season 4 tomorrow, so more catching up ahead, whee.) These kinds of stories make me really sad, and yet I'm a total sucker for them, particularly if they have something unconventional, which this one certainly does. :) What made me go look for a download in the first place )

Of course the downside of all this was that a) I went to bed a little later than I've been used to lately, and b) I had lots of weird, jumbled dreams which featured the Doctor and in particular various of his companions, which resulted in almost needing a crane to get me out of bed this morning. I guess I better go off soon to try and catch up on sleep a little.

Night night!
ourdramaqueen: (legend of the seeker darken rahl)
  • Still enjoying Legend of the Seeker, despite Darken Rahl/Craig Parker being missing completely from eps 3 and 4. They better show him soon again, and not only his henchmen. *pouts* At least I have a brand new wallpaper (and of course my screen caps from the pilot) to drool over him... ;)
  • I think I watched too much Torchwood yesterday - bits of various episodes here and there - because I had a somewhat weird night.
  • BBC3 is showing Doctor Who season 2 (err, that's the one with Martha, right?) season 3 starting today, one episode per day, so I can catch up, whee.

Well, time for some lunch - laters!

So how does ODQ spend her weekend when totally computerless?

Saturday )

Sunday )

I guess that's about it - I know there were one or two other things I thought I'd have to mention, but obviously have slipped my mind. Can't be that important then! ;)

'Doctor Who' bound for the big screen?
New showrunner interested in a film based on the series

By Mimi Turner

Aug 24, 2008, 03:55 PM ET
EDINBURGH -- Sci Fi smash "Doctor Who" could be made into a movie, its new showrunner said. Steven Moffat, the award-winning scriptwriter who has taken over as the driving force behind the show following the departure of Russell T. Davies, said he was keen to see the Saturday evening show made into a feature film.

"It would be good to see it in the cinema so long as it is great and fantastic," he said, speaking at a master class on the show at the festival here. But he cautioned that the the movie would need careful handling.

"I'm not against it ... so long as it never gets in the way of the TV show. If it got in the way of the show that would be appalling."

Fans of the time lord series have been eager to see the show transition to the big screen ever since it was brought back to BBC1 four years ago. Almost 10 million viewers watched the season finale last month.

Don't know how it would play on the big screen, but hey, with a good script, why not? They could bring Captain Jack along for reinforcements... ;D

Only just now was able to get online for the first time today - for some reason I just couldn't connect to any of the wireless networks that are in the area, be it with my computer or my laptop. Neither could my sister who lives next door. Very weird! I hope whatever the problem was is now gone for good.

And I found some great news in my e-mail: Stingray is finally coming to DVD!!!! Nick Mancuso all mysterious, wearing a leather jacket driving around in that gorgeous black Corvette Stingray! *whimper* It will be released in about half a year only, but at least it's finally coming! Guess that means Amazon.ca will be getting business from me! ;)

While I was unable to get online, I used the time to catch up on some downloads. First was First Snow with Guy Pearce and William Fichtner *winks at [livejournal.com profile] serenitysangel. Interesting film with a slow buildup - sometimes borderline too slow, but the performances are good, and of course Guy looks gorgeous. And talk about an ending left open to the interpretation of the viewer! Now I have a craving to watch The Proposition again...

Then it was the Captain Jack episodes of Doctor Who's first season. Lots of fun! :D I really can't wait for the second season of Torchwood!

Right, off I go to catch up on my flist now...
